Ladybug Romper 18" Doll Clothes Pattern

  |

Ladybugs are often seen as a sign of good luck, and your doll will definitely be the lucky one wearing this adorable “ladybug” romper, by FROG Princess Fashions. With its halter top design and wrap-around skirt resembling wings, your 18” doll will be the star attraction at the next yard party or barbecue.
This little romper is a clever one-piece design with shorts in the front attached to a little skirt that wraps around from the back and ties at the waist. The curved bodice takes the shape of the ladybug’s head with the shoulder straps mimicking antenna and the front buttons or snaps resembling eyes. The shoulder straps cross in the back where they are stitched to the back waistband. This PDF sewing pattern is designed to fit 18" dolls such as American Girl® and the waistband is elasticized for a perfect fit, regardless of the size of your doll’s waist. Great for the chunkier older dolls!
The Ladybug Romper is equally adorable stitched out plain or embellished with narrow lace or rick-rack trim. The fabric can also be plain, printed, or perhaps red and black polka dots to resemble ladybug wings. And to make construction super-easy, the tie ends and shoulder straps can be made of ribbon and snaps can be substituted for the buttons and buttonholes.
The Ladybug Romper is cute enough to wear as is, or it can easily take on a dressier look with a shirt or blouse worn underneath.
What’s more, this fully-lined romper stitches up quickly and is easy enough for a beginner to sew. Make one or several for all of your 18” friends!

This pattern is also available designed to fit 14.5" dolls such as WellieWishers™.
