This skirt is even more adorable than the picture. I made the elastic waistband a little tighter so it sits higher on her waist. It is easy to make although you must read through the directions. I pinned a little note on each ruffle so I wouldn’t get confused. It turned out so cute!
The skirt is really cute and fits very well. I have made it twice. The first time I followed the instructions on construction but was not real happy with the final look of the final seam with the elastic being sewn right into the seam. It was too thick and heavy. So on my second skirt I sewed the back seam before top stitching the yoke and then top stitched leaving about 2 inches open and then threaded the elastic thru and stitched it together then finished the top stitching the yoke down at the back seam. It resulted in a much more professional finish.
This is adorable and fairly easy to sew for someone with experience. This pattern would be tricky for someone who is new to sewing as there are some slightly complicated steps. The designer has gone to great lengths to illustrate the steps and there is even a YouTube video on making this little skirt. Still, I found myself thinking, "I'm glad I have a lot of experience; this would be tricky to puzzle out if I did not." I also think that a child might have difficulty pulling the skirt over the AG doll's backside; an opening would be easier to manipulate but might increase the difficulty of sewing this project. Nevertheless, the pattern is a good one to add to a doll pattern library as it produces a cute little skirt.
This is a very quick and easy skirt. The directions were easy to follow. I added 1/2 inch to the back seams of the yoke and under layers. Great pattern!
