A gorgeous little blouse with all the features of a boy’s shirt, but ‘upcycled’ for girls. Use fabric specifically for boys, but add some lace, and you have an adorable blouse. Plaids, stripes, checks are fabulous, even large florals for a super Hawaiian styled blouse. The blouse maintains many aspects of a boy’s shirt such as plenty of top-stitching, a stand-up collar, twin breast pockets, buttoned sleeve tabs, curved back hem, etc. The front features a gathered lace insert while the back features a triangular lace insert below the yoke with an optional bow stitched at the top of the back lace insert. Hook and loop tape is used for closure on the front button placket. This relatively easy and versatile pattern is designed to fit 18” soft-bodied dolls such as American Girl®.

I absolutely love, love, love this pattern. Have made 3 shirts so far. My only frustration is to get the edge of the collar stay perfect. With such a small seam allowance of 1/4" it makes it a bit tricky. Just wonder if other seamstresses are coping better. But we will persevere! Three more to go. Six dolls to dress!
