I have made both the coat and raincoat version of this pattern and found it as always easy to usE. As they are part of a Christmas present I don't yet know what my great grand daughter thinks of them but I love them.
I used this pattern to make a raincoat. I used fabric that is intended for making diaper covers. It gave the look of waterproof fabric but with the soft drape of a woven. I fully lined it with a floral rayon. I did increase the size, to fit my older AG doll, by adding 1/4" to the seam allowances. I'm very pleased with the fit. I plan to make a sunny yellow dress to complete the outfit.
I did not have to increase the size to over lap on my doll which is from the spring field collection and the generation doll from Target. The scaling was right on the pattern . The only thing I found wrong was that the sleeves were too long. But is was real cute
If you read the instructions this is not as complicated as you first might think. I will definitely make this coat over and over in different fabric and lining.
I was a little hesitant to start this sewing project. The end results in the pictures looked so great I was worried it would be really difficult! Boy was I wrong! Once the pieces were cut out this coat worked up very quickly! I'm a very basic sewer, and even for me it only took a couple hours of sewing to end up with a beautiful coat and professional looking results. The pattern is very clear and with the pictures is easy to follow. It takes you step by step from start to finish. Have some fun with mixing and matching fabrics for the coat and hood lining. You can come up with some really cute results!
