Rockabetty is a flirty summer dress in the rockabilly style, which originated in the early 1950’s as country music combined with rhythm and blues to produce rock and roll. Rockabilly fashions were influenced by pinup girl clothing and swing dresses. Rockabetty has a classic halter top that ties behind the neck and a full skirt that is ungathered below the V at the base of the slightly drop waisted bodice. The bodice is fully lined and features a gathered bow-like top and curved flat piping detail, both of which are surprisingly easy to sew. The dress closes at the back with hook and loop tape, and the tutorial includes instructions on how to adjust the bodice for a perfect fit. Also included is a bonus headband to complete the retro look for an evening of music and fun.
