I’d tested this skirt when it came out in the 14.5” size, but loved it so much I knew I’d have to buy it in the 18” size. Besides the uniqueness of a “skort” (or “culottes” if you’re old!), I love all the little details this skirt includes. Pockets - with flaps! - on both the front and the back, plus the tiny utility loop on the front, not to mention belt loops and a belt, all work together to make this skirt look just like something that might hang in my closet. I love how clear her instructions are … this designer hits the balance of enough information and pictures to make the pattern easy to follow, but not so much detail as to make it tedious. While there’s nothing at all “hard” about this pattern, it’s not necessarily a quick sew if you want to get all those cute details in, so allow a little extra time for this one. (If you’re looking to simplify, I suppose you could leave off the pockets, belt loops and belt, and the utility loop and still have a cute skort for your doll.)
Clear and precise instruction and very easy to follow my granddaughter loved this for her doll
What a great pattern. I had the pleasure of testing this pattern, and it went together so smoothly and quickly. The instructions are easy to follow and you can complete this skort in just a couple of hours. You can make it with or without the pocket flaps, buttons, or even pockets themselves. You can also use different types of belts, or none. Make it your own and have fun with it. It will be a great addition to any seamstress's pattern library. Add some shoes or boots and a cute top and your girl will be ready to go.
Great skort pattern. Makes a great uniform skort or play outfit. Easy to follow instructions and great little details, like the utility belt hook and the belt loops. They really make the skort look like a real child's outfit. Do consider using a lightweight fabric that presses sharp creases to make the belt loop details easier to sew. Great fit, and with an adjustable waistline, you won't have to worry about the fit on your doll.
