With the Serve It Up! Tennis Dress PDF pattern by Peppermintsticks, your 18” doll will be ready to take the court and show off her backhand in style. The dress has a sporty look and features a sweetheart neckline, tiny cap sleeves and a pleated skirt. It has a zipper at the back closure and a fitted body design. Use contrasting fabric for more detail at the pleats and sleeves, or try the easy pleat design for a solid color or print. The pattern is sized for light and medium weight cotton woven fabrics and lightweight/low stretch knits. This winning combination also includes a sporty brief, wristbands and a knee brace.
Note: Because the dress has a more fitted shoulder, sleeve and body design, this pattern is not suitable for the older 18” Pre-Mattel American Girl® dolls.

Hi. Very cute pattern. But, found it a bit narrow as the dress only goes with effort over the *** area. The top also a bit tight as AG dolls have almost like a bit of a bump over the chest area. V-necks I find better for their chest. The next one I will slightly cut on at the sides. Trust me, I use 1/4" seams very specifically with the machine needle to the furthest to the right and lined up with my 1cm gage on the presser plate. I still think the patterns do not print to the exact scale. I always measure the inch block with my American tape measure and my South African cm tape. It's off by 0,4mm. Over 1" is minimal but over a few it definitely is crucial. The neckline I messed up a bit as I did not have a marking pencil. Will buy one for future projects. My hat off to the person who made the polkadot tennis dress on the picture! Everything lines up! Feast for the eyes!!!
This dress is adorable. The directions are easy to follow and it turns out super cute. I used lightweight cottons to make a cheerleader for a breast cancer fundraiser. The fit was a little tight but the pattern tells you it is really not suitable for the older ( bigger ) dolls. I will definitely be making many more.
