The Sixth Grade Skirt is an a-line silhouette skirt with lots of design options when you mix and match fabrics and add lace or trim. With velcro closure in back, it's easy on and off for little hands to dress their dolls. This pattern is also a perfect starter pattern for girls that want to learn to sew for their dolls, or for more experienced seamstresses to make a basic doll wardrobe.
This classic but simple skirt is very easily made from a quarter yard of fabric (quilter's fat quarters work great!) in a woven cotton or light denim. Mix and match your fabrics for unlimited design options.

Such a quick and easy skirt to put together and is a great use of left over scraps that just to big to throw away. I really like that you can do so many different combinations and the back closer gives it that realistic look rather than an elastic waist band. Love it!!!!!
I've made this Sixth Grade Skirt by OhSewKat many times, and it comes out perfect every time. It uses no elastic so it fits very smoothly and looks rather sophisticated. You can add lace or embellishment on the front panel or around the bottom or add a fun ruffle. It also looks pretty to combine solids and prints and pair it with the Popsicle Top by OhSewKat - an easy-to-make top that goes with virtually any bottom. I'm thrilled with this skirt every single time I make it - it goes together in less than an hour.
I was so excited to see "Oh Sew Kat" had re sized her sixth grade skirt for the new WellieWishers. A quick and easy skirt to sew up. I have sewn a few now and all look quite different. I love adding lace to the front panel to give it a more elegant look. With the velcro back closure and easy on and off for little hands to maneuver too. Kat's instructions are easy to follow and with step by step pictures it makes this pattern a breeze to sew.
