If you would like a beautiful and unique new dress for your doll, consider crocheting her a Sunrise Sunday Dress! You can also crochet a really cute Peplum style top using this pattern.
This pattern features a square neck and short sleeves. It uses a very unique style stitch that gives the dress a fun wavy texture. The dress/top is crocheted from the top down with the trim and the back closure added after the body is crocheted. You can choose to crochet either a top or a dress, written instructions are included for both. Because of the way it is crocheted it is easy to add length to the dress or top if desired. The back closure uses four ½” buttons for easy dressing. Yarn from Knit Picks was used to crochet the dress and the top.
This PDF crochet pattern is designed to fit 18 inch dolls such as American Girl®.
This is an intermediate level crochet pattern. It includes written instructions with step-by-step pictures. It also includes a summary of instructions (without pictures) to help save ink if you would like to print the pattern.
Recommended Fabrics: I would suggest using a blend of acrylic/cotton. This pattern will work using any fingering weight yarn though, as long as you check the gauge.

Although in crochet I'm not yet really at "intermediate" level, this attractive design made me want to try to make it. It was a challenge until I figured out all the terminology and mastered some new (for me) stitches. The step-by-step directions and excellent photos were an enormous help! It came out really quite well and I am so pleased with it. One of the reasons for this success, I am sure, was following the instructions to make a gauge swatch before starting. The dress fits the AG doll perfectly and I will be making more versions in the future.
One of my favorite patterns. The choice of yarn can make this dress Sunday best, casual everyday or sparkly evening wear. The pattern is well written and easy to follow.
