Tula is an empire waist, A-line style dress. It closes down the back with buttons, but no need to line up all those pesky buttonholes, the buttonholes are formed while sewing the garment with the use of a button band. Tula has lots of options for using different trims such as lace, piping etc. to embellish either some or all of the seams. Two cutting lines are included to better fit a variety of doll sizes.

The simplicity of this style lends itself to many different options. Either trim or no trim along the seam lines, use of contrasting fabric for the different fabrics - so many different looks from the same well fitting pattern but the highlight is the long button band at the back that is worked up ingeniously with NO BUTTON HOLES
Love this dress. I was a tester for this and as soon as I saw it, I knew it would be perfect for a series of dresses that I'm sewing. Love the possibilities of color and pattern combinations with this design. Be sure to look at the clever way the buttonholes are done. I've never seen this before. It's a well drafted pattern with the darts matching up with the skirt seams - makes for great color blocking. Funny, you can judge a lot about the craftsmanship of the designer from details like this.
