My favorite memory is my grandparents putting the large Christmas bulbs on their evergreen trees and Santa always forgot a gift and would leave it under those trees. Still love the large bulbs on my front railing.
My favorite holiday tradition is that my grandma hates to give us plain cards with money in them, so every year she sets up a big puzzle and all five of us grandchildren have to figure out where the money was hidden (500 empty gift cards with 2 $50 giftcards, money hidden inside ornaments,etc.). This year, she gave each of us a dog toy. She sewed 100 single dollar bills into these dog toys, so we had to scavenge for seam rippers and open up the dog toys to retrieve the money. Lucky for me, I know how to use a seam ripper pretty well ;).
My favorite Christmas tradition is watching “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” (Dr. Seuss version), “A Christmas Carol” (Alistair Sims version) and “White Christmas” wherever and with whomever I happen to be spending Christmas. It makes Christmas, Christmas, bridging time and distance. My husband and I started the tradition on our first Christmas together in 1974. In 2004, after my husband died, I continued the tradition with my partner until his death in 2016. Then I introduced my Canadian friends to my American tradition.

My favorite holiday tradition is being with family and playing games with our kids and grandchildren. That is just one of my favorite things.
My favorite tradition is filling the Christmas stockings with goodies and toys. I like to stuff them until nothing else fits.
Making Christmas chocolates & squares with my granddaughter Haley
My favorite holiday tradition is the big themed Christmas party my friends and I throw every year. Past themes have included Harry Potter, Gothic Victorian, Hunting Lodge, and Tiffany’s.
Growing up in a farming, Scandinavian community, the Baptist church we attended had Christmas Day service early in the morning. Like 6am. It was called Julotta. “Jul” in Swedish means Christmas and “otta” was before dawn. So cold on a Minnesota morning. We were tired from celebrating & opening gifts the night before. Good thing maxi dresses in the 70s were in style to keep us warm for church!

My favorite holiday tradition is our church’s annual children’s Christmas program. My sisters and I work with the kids in our church in both Sunday School and children’s church (they work with the younger kids and I work with the older kids). Every year the younger kids act out the Christmas story (Mary, Joseph, shepherds, angels and wise men) while the older kids sing songs and have speaking parts. It’s always an adventure and we never really know how the actual program will go no matter how much we practice. It’s always a lot of fun for everyone and it’s a great way to celebrate the true meaning of Christmas. I can’t wait for next year!
Jesus Birthday cake. A tradition I started when I was about 4 or 5. I asked if everyone has a birthday cake for their birthday and Christmas is Jesus’ Birthday how come he does not have a birthday cake. I really do not like it for the cake but the reminder of what the season is all about.
My favorite holiday tradition is giving to those in need.

My favorite holiday tradition is a family prayer before we open gifts on Christmas morning. We have much to be grateful for and it’s the perfect way to start the day.
