I am limited to shopping at Joann’s, Michael’s and Hobby Lobby. I can’t always find what I am looking for but I do get good customer service at Joann’s. I have even looked for fabric at our local Goodwill. I bought a pretty taffeta dress that I took apart to make a party dress.

I like to shop for bargains at the thrift stores that I can upcycle for doll clothes. Doll fastenings to scale are a challenge to find anywhere but HomeSew.com. I would still like to find a wider selection of functional buckles to use for shoe, belt, and jacket details.

I shop for 1/2" Velcro at Homesew.com. I’m really impressed with these quality, how soft and pliable it is, and how easy it is to sew. I enjoy using it because it lies smoother on the fabric than other hook and loop products.

I check my supplies first and can often find something similar to what I need.
I like to shop at JoAnns’s when they are not overrun by the big socialist scare and cannot go into their store. Their coupons help keep the cost down.
But I also shop at Walmart, Hobby Lobby, Dollar Tree, rummage sales, thrift stores and any store I may be at and see craft/sewing ideas I can use. There is also a lot of free resources on the internet – one of my favorites is YouTube presenter that makes doll “everything” from Dollar Tree items
When we go to our cabin for vacation in Maine there is a general warehouse store (Mardens) that has clearance prices on all kinds of things.
I am a hands-on person. I like to actually see a product in person – online I will search with hesitation as they will use wording that is deceiving and many times will not get what I thought. I made doll clothes by hand since the 70s with no pattern. I have many doll clothes books and patterns from the mentioned places that I have collected since the 80s
My last awesome find was at Menards – they had dog leash and collar set on clearance for small dogs – the clips, hooks, metal rings and the narrow leash/collar will make accessories for all kinds of dolls at a fraction of the regular price of these items separately.
Pixie Fare has a huge selection of patterns and ideas, and their service is exceptional.

After shopping in my craft room (black hole) I then use JoAnn Fabrics, Hobby Lobby, Michael’s and occasionally Walmart for what I don’t have, which isn’t much. I have been in every store in a 50 mile radius that carries sewing machines, fabrics, patterns and/or notions. I also like to create things from repurposed clothing and bed linens. I like Violet Field Threads and Pixie Faire for pdf patterns, although I find PF has a much wider, diverse and impressive selection. I am pleased with the service of the PF team. I shop for zippers, trims and overall closures for dolls at Home Sew. I was pleased with all their choices when I discovered them years ago when I started sewing for dolls. Their quality is wonderful and their service is excellent. When I noticed they were located in Bethlehem, PA, where I grew up, I read their story and realized that many years ago, shortly after they opened, my mother shopped there for her sewing trims. She loved their store and went back often. I am pleased to follow in her footsteps. I love the store too.

I try to shop locally at our 2 small quilt shops but they have limited selection so I prefer to do most of my shopping online. I have shopped and bought online at many shops for lots of different items ranging from fabric, notions, supplies, sewing machine parts and accessories. I search various shops’ websites, both national and international, and then if possible contact the seller by calling direct or by email to find out if a product is available in the quantity that I want. With direct contact, I have always had terrific customer service when ordering – The dialogue/interaction is an opportunity to have any questions about the product answered along with explanations about any special features or particular instructions on how to use and what some of the options might be. Direct contact gives me increased insight as to whether the item is what I need for my project and I am able to find out a fair estimate of total cost with shipping. I have appreciated the vendors’ efforts to make the transactions easy, accommodating and comfortable. I have always been happy with the results of my online purchases.

I’ve found limited places to shop for my sewing online—but will use the references that some people gave in these comments and also check out the companies represented in your giveaway. It’s difficult to be able to trust what you see online as being the right color, quality and what you need without being able to actually see & feel things in person—at least for me at age 70. All our local fabric stores have closed now, permanently, except for what you can get at Hobby Lobby or Walmart, so I’ve been trying to shop online for them and learn where best to shop. I have found a few sellers on eBay whose cameras seem to be pretty accurate and who sell good quality items/fabric. It’s tough and I hope to discover more quality places to shop online here. I do make use of local thrift shops too as much can be salvaged to use in doll clothes sewing and it does my heart good to recycle.
