Trading fabric with friends is the best!
I shop for all my sewing supplies at hobby lobby. I was pleased with the quality of fabric and the availability of them.
I shop for fabric at the Salvation Army store. I always find recyclable clothing with tiny prints suitable for doll clothing. The prices are within my budget, the staff are always pleasant and I like the notion that somehow, I am giving back.
I shop for fabric at Spoonflower because you can submit your own design and they will print it on fabric for you. It means you have fabric that is uniquely your own to be used to make one of a kind creations.
I shop for general sewing supplies at my local Joann’s, usually using a coupon! For high quality cottons, I go online to Fat Quarter Shop (lovely selection and a half yard is exactly half the cost of a yard, not an increased price), Missouri Star Quilt (you can earn points on your shopping), or I purchase from Etsy sellers where I can also find fabrics no longer produced. I’ve found lovely delicate laces on Etsy, eBay, and in antique stores. I have quite a collection of supplies now that I really should shop at home!
