A favorite cultural tradition I take part in is the Norwegian tradition of celebrating Christmas Eve with a festive dinner, carols, and opening a few of the gifts under the tree. My grandmother, who is Norwegian, always served a special Scandinavian Christmas bread with a Norwegian cheese called gjetost, dried apricots, and date rolls. We have continued this tradition and added a few things to it. A cultural tradition I find interesting is the celebration of Hanukkah. A cultural pattern I would like to see offered at Pixie Faire would be a Middle Eastern or Eastern European traditional outfit. The next pattern I buy will be the Spanish Flamenco dancer dress.
I love the Native American Indian traditions and would love more Native American Indian outfits.
A FAVORITE CULTURAL TRADITION I TAKE PART IN OR FIND INTERESTING IS St Patrick’s day. Our heritage includes the Irish among lots of others. I cook up a huge pot of corn beef and cabbage. My whole family gathers and we have a great time. A CULTURAL PATTERN I WOULD LIKE TO SEE OFFERED AT PIXIE FAIRE WOULD BE more ancient costumes from the Mediterranian area. I love Thimbles and Acorns patterns. The historical backgrounds are fantastic! I’d like more of a great thing!
A FAVORITE CULTURAL TRADITION I TAKE PART IN OR FIND INTERESTING IS making traditional English Christmas cake, pudding and mincemeat. I send, or take them to my sons each year (which is a little easier now I also live in the USA). Most of their children, spouses and in-laws have become avid fans of this rich food.
A CULTURAL PATTERN I WOULD LIKE TO SEE OFFERED AT PIXIE FAIRE WOULD BE English folk costumes, such as those worn for Maypole, country and Morris dancing. I would also like to see traditional Russian/Mongolian and Bavarian outfits.
My Dutch family puts out shoes instead of socks/stockings at Christmas. Contemporary African outfits might be a good addition.
