This month in Sewing With Cinnamon & Friends, Shari Fuller is teaching us all about fashion from the twenties! The class, Sewing A Themed Wardrobe: 1920s Fashion, has just kicked off and with three more installments there's sure to be something you'll love!

The main focus of the class is sewing the new 1920's Mary Brooks Dress pattern along with the darling cloche hat and a cute pair of Mary Janes shoes! We'll be adding more patterns and pixie packs (including re-stocking the Mary Brooks kit) with the 1920s in mind so check back frequently to see what's new!

I’m most interested in intercultural style fashion as well historical fashion. I will see a picture and then be obsessively inspired to research and recreate in miniature. The last Barbie I designed for an OCC shoebox had a Haitian Creole outfit (https://pin.it/2VeSp9H) and I even wrote the girl who would receive it about what I learned (about discrimination in the Caribbean in the late 1700s and about the points on the hat indicating the wearer’s marital status).
I am most interested in the colonial era clothing patterns
I am most interested in the renaissance era. The clothing was so lovely and vibrant. And the gents were handsome and dapper as well.
I’m interested in all eras of fashion. It can tell so much about what life was like for women in those eras.
Made clothes for my granddaughter and great granddaughter now need to start making doll clothes for me.

I’m most interested in any historical time period/style fashion. I love 1950’s style clothing because it was still playful but modest with full skirts for girls. I have a Felicity, so colonial is something I’d like to make sometime. I also have Marie Grace and Cecile and I really love that 1830s-1850’s. The ankle/calf length full skirts and beautiful details and fabrics are special!

I think Victorian is what I’m currently most interested in and a touch of steam punk would be awesome! Those 20’s mary janes sure caught my eye though.

Thank you! I find the fashion changes along with hairstyle changes from 1915-1930 spectacular and outrageous, really making their mark. I’m especially impressed with the changes in wedding fashion in this time period depicted in vintage family photos I’ve enjoyed.

I’d love to see a sew along for fur trapper boots or Edwardian shoes. I volunteer at a local museum, our focus is 1812 but, we have displays from Victorian, Edwardian, Prohibition, WWI & II, Colonial settlers, agricultural, Voyageur, and Indigenous peoples. I watch your patterns for anything that goes along with our displays and will help catch the attention of kids.

There are so many. I was in my 20’s in the 70;s so I love 1970’s fashions because that is what I wore. But i like flapper dresses and dresses from Downton Abbey and I love 1950’s fashions because I was born in the 50’s and that is what my mother wore.

Wow! That’s a tough choice! I guess if I have to pick I would say my favorite fashion period would be the 1950’s! I love wearing my saddle shoes and circle skirts (and my dolls like wearing them too!)!
