For most sewing projects, standard sewing supplies are used and easy to find. For a variety of doll clothes patterns the supply lists recommend doll scale supplies and notions. Over the years we've come across a few of our favorite places to find these items:
- Home Sew - Check out thier Cinnamon's Favorite Things collection! Find 5" and 6" separating zippers in both nylon coil and metal teeth styles, narrow hook and loop tape, tiny buttons, and buckles.

I shop for everything at Joann’s, Hobby Lobby, Michael’s, local quilt stores, thrift stores…. I keep an open mind and think outside the box.
I have the hardest time finding eyelets and zippers as well as doll size appliques and trims.
I have the hardest time finding doll-sized zippers and buttons, and I mostly shop for doll notions online and at Joann’s. I also find a lot of interesting things at thrift shops and in the Fashion District of Los Angeles (Michael Levine’s Loft store, where all fabrics are sold by the POUND and some awesome finds can be found) is a favorite haunt.
I have the hardest time finding all but in all honesty I’m not searching diligently. I shop the big stores in my area for sewing and crafts, I haven’t attempted many of these gorgeous plans. Thanks for all the giveaways this week!
I find doll size notions in many unexpected places. Whenever I see buttons, trims or neat finishing pieces, I snatch them up. I know they will come in handy at some point.
