My sewing trick is to use fat quarters for doll dresses.
“My favorite sewing tip or trick is…” Well, I’m still new enough to pattern sewing that I don’t have any favorites on the machine that I can share… but… I hand sewing buttons have turned from a chore to a love now that I learned the toothpick and wrap trick. You start the button buy putting the needle from the back of the material to the front and through the first button hole. THen you place a toothpick across the button and continue to sew the button, all the while, sewing over the toothpick. Just before you finish, you put your last stitch through the button hole but nOt the material. Remove the toothpick. Take the thread and wrap it around the loose thread that is connecting the button to the material. Do this several times before finally going through the material and then tying (knotting) off. HOORAY! You now have one, sturdily attached button! :-)
My favorite sewing tip is to actually find time to sew. Sometimes life is so busy and I just need to stop and sew!

My favorite sewing trip is read the directions through completely.
My favorite sewing tip is to use a 1/4" sewing foot for quilting when sewing. It has a 1/4" attached edge piece, not just a notch.
My favorite trick is to use clothes from my goodwill pile to create dolls for my grandkids. I’ve also used items from my mother’s pile of clothes that don’t fit anymore. I always include a little card to let them know where the doll clothing came from – Grandma or Great Grandma’s “sweater” or “shirt”. I’ve also used snips of edging, lace, buttons, pins, or jewelry from other family members who have passed to build connections across the generations.
My favorite sewing tip or trick is…using the pintuck foot to make a very tiny french seam when making heirloom doll clothes; pressing every seam as I go; finishing the doll clothes with a 1" hem whenever possible; and using couture sewing methods. It does make a difference in the finished product.

My favorite sewing tip or trick is wash your material first. It will ensure nothing will bleed through onto your doll.
My favorite sewing tip it to soak bright fabrics AND notions such as bias tape that will touch the doll’s “skin” in warm salt water (then rinse) before making the garment. This saves a lot of heartache and time when the garment stays on the doll for an extended period of time.
My favorite sewing trick is two-fold: always, always, always wash and iron your fabric, especially wovens, and keep that iron nearby and ready to press seams. It makes a huge difference in the end!
The girls can never have enough dresses. What’s better than a free patter? The already made item. Thank you ladies once again for the wonderful giveaway. Happy Holidays everyone.
My favorite sewing tip for a newbie is to use a magnetic seam guage to keep sewing lines straight. Made all the difference for me.

My favorite sewing tip is to be sure to keep your iron ready to press as you go.
My tip is have everything together and ready to advance through from beginning to completion.
My favorite sewing tip is, none yet. I’m self teaching as I go along. I’ve never done more than stitch a button or hole. Have never used a sewing machine or patterns. I measure my daughter’s dolls at least 3 times before cutting the fabric and hand sew things for her. I try my best but I’m such a beginner.
I have found that a glue stick often helps to keep small items in place while stitching them. It washes out easily.
My favorite sewing tip is to ask my Grandma if I’m not sure about something.

My favorite sewing tip is to have all material for the project at hand and don’t rush which eliminates mistakes.
My favorite tip is to use a walking foot!!! I use it on almost everything!
My favorite sewing tip is to make multiples of a project when practical. Then do all of the sewing first step on the project, take expverything to the iron, and then back to the machine. This is a big time saver!
My favorite sewing tip or trick is to make a sample, especially if not sure if it will fit, not necessarily for doll clothes, but for human clothes. This has saved me a few times from wasting the good material because it would have been too small or possibly too big.
My favorite sewing tip is IRON, IRON, IRON. It makes your project so much nicer.
My favourite sewing tip is when I am making multiples of an outfit to choose fabrics of similar colours so that I can use one base color for my main stitching. That way I can sew them together in assembly line fashion and only need to change mat thread for top stitching.
