My favorite tip or trick is to use old baby clothes and make 18 inch doll clothes
My favorite sewing tip or trick is to copy all PDF files on cardstock and cut them out. I trace around the pieces with a water soluble marking pen, then cut them out. Wherever there’s a mark for button placement, darts, or notches, I use a small paper punch to make a hole in the cardstock pattern piece, then mark the fabric through the hole. If my paper punch does not reach far enough, like the top of a dart, I punch a hole manually with an “ice pick”. I store the pattern pieces in a page protector with a picture of the pattern on top and file them in a 3-ring binder by type – Historical, Costume, etc. I never print out the instructions; to save ink I use the instructions on my laptop.
What wonderful tips there are here. Mine is probably posted here also, but I haven’t had time to read them all – yet. I plan to. Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Blessed Holidays to all.
My favorite sewing tip is to put everything needed for a project in a bin with a lid: pattern, thread, cut pieces, etc. I keep several of these bins for works in progress. When I am finished with a sewing session, everything goes back in the bin and gets placed in my closet. Everything stays together, with no lost pieces, and my sewing room stays much neater in between sewing sessions.
My favorite sewing tip or trick is the French seam. It’s just really nice to hide all the rough edges inside.
My latest favorite sewing tip is to make multiple copies of a pattern and cut out all at the same time. It saves time and I can just sew instead of taking time to cut out.
