My favorite trick is to cut a strip of light weight iron on stabilizer, sew it, right sides together along the hem line, then carefully fold it up, using the tip of the iron to secure it. When I know it is even and none of the stabilizer shows I iron it flat. Hem straight, secure and you can put all your fancy stitches along the hem any way you want.
When pressing a curve, press over a curve, either using a seamstress’ ham or even a rolled up towel. This gives the curve a smother shape, especially when making small garments such as doll clothes. When turning a lined bodice, for example, this eliminates bunching, and gives a nicer finish to the garment. Especially effective when pressing a set-in sleeve on any size garment.
My favorite sewing tip is to practice practice practice! And stretch yourself. You never know what you can do if you don’t try!
favorite sewing tip or trick is to use the right notion to get the job done . I love the wool mat and small iron for small projects
My favourite sewing tip or trick is, when sewing something stuffed (like a pillow or plush toy), to tie a tiny knot, push the needle through close to the seam and then, as far as needle will go, somewhere in the large middle, pull tight the thread, snip the thread, and the tail will pop back and be on the inside!
