Okay, here is a longer version on why the 1500-1600s are my favorite fashion era( I wanted to make sure I posted inside the timeline before). My favorite fashion era is the 1500-1600s. I remember that I first became interested in this era, it’s all because of a book that I had read called “Shakespeare’s secret” the book was so captivating to me, that in the following months I had done two reports on Queen Elizabeth and William Shakespeare. I would like to see a historical pattern offered for a doll sized version of Queen Elizabeth the first’s coronation gown, along with some coustumes inspired by plays written by Shakspeare. The play A Mid Summer Nights Dream is my favorite of them all so definitely some from this! Thank you and happy New Year!

Choosing a favorite fashion era is liking choosing a favorite child! There’s no way I could pick just one. And for me, it all started with a 1986 Pleasant Company catalog I received as a girl. “My favorite fashion era is the 1850’s thru the early 1900’s.. I would like to see a historical pattern offered for a dress like the ones Tasha Tudor drew for the book A Little Princess. My family has been reading that book for 4 generations now. Each generation we’ve tried to recreate the dresses pictured, but never quite succeed. We’ve made a doll house to look like the house in the story(which has been handed down) and each generation has added to the dolls and clothes. Each generation has kept “her” doll and clothes, but with each new girl comes new dolls and clothes. Your patterns have come the closest, but the bustle and swooped front we continue to struggle with. Our youngest has just gotten her own book and doll and she’s already asking me to make the outfits from the book. So it is time to start trying again. So I’d love the pink dance dress if it could be made into a pattern.

I began making clothes for AG dolls when my niece bought her daughter Elizabeth (Facility’s) friend with the idea of using the doll to introduce American History in her overseas home school. But Elizabeth had just been retired and they could no longer get period clothing for her. I was asked to make clothes for the doll. And then I realized that I could make clothes to introduce clothing in keeping with my grandniece’s Scandinavian heritage. Though she is older now, I still often make period outfits or finish off with the accessories needed..

I also like to make more contemporary outfits for the dolls as well as those are the ones my grandchildren like to play with..
