Hi everyone,
On Friday (October 6th) we'll have a free pattern available from Karen Wadsworth the designer behind the popular Forever 18 Inches brand. Help us decide which pattern should be free and be sure to come back to Pixie Faire on Friday and download your free copy.
More About Karen In Her Own Words: I've always loved dolls. My tenth birthday present from my mother was an honest-to-goodness sewing basket filled to the brim with supplies, and a Barbie pattern. I was in heaven! I sewed throughout my high school years, and then began again when my great nieces received American Girl dolls. My teenage sons were horrified that their mother was playing with dolls. During that time I also discovered Liberty Jane patterns. Wow--stylish, detailed patterns for dolls with fantastic instructions and a beautiful fit! Before I realized what was happening I was designing my own patterns. Partnering with PixieFaire as a seller and designer has been such a fun adventure! I'm grateful to those of you who have become customers and friends along the way. This pattern is my thank you to all of you--enjoy!

More About Each Pattern
The Infinity Dress Designed To Fit 18 Inch Journey Girl® Dolls: Wrap it, tie it, change it! The amazing and versatile Infinity Dress is now available for Journey Girls dolls, with skirt choices available in a short and full length, and an option for using differing fabrics for the bodice and skirt for your own unique designer look. The dress itself is very simple: it’s formed by joining four rectangles of varying sizes together, and sews together quickly. Like the “Big People” version, the straps have an infinite series of possibilities in the way they can be tied to form different looks—hence the name of the dress. It can be worn as a sun dress, party dress, bridesmaid’s dress, or an elegant formal, depending on the fabric, length, and how it’s tied. Make your own version of this PDF pattern, and you’ll have a blast playing with the straps and all their possibilities! Recommended Fabrics: Lightweight knits with a moderate (no more than 30%) one-way stretch Special Note - This pattern is designed to fit a Journey Girls Doll specifically and will not fit the standard 18 inch doll such as American Girl Doll. A Journey Girls doll is 18 inches tall but has a much slimmer body. You can see more info on our Doll Measurements page. This pattern is also available to fit American Girl dolls.
The Heat Wave Halter Dress And Top Designed To Fit 18 Inch Dolls: "We're havin' a heat wave…a tropical heat wave….". If the mercury rises and you hear your doll humming this Irving Berlin tune, it's time to sew a Heat Wave Halter Dress or Top to keep her cool, content, and fashionable. The pattern features two different skirt options, an optional sash, a cropped top with a ruffled hem, and bonus directions to make a Skinny Tie belt for a casual look. Two sets of cutting lines are included to accommodate newer/smaller soft-bodied dolls, as well as larger/older ones. The simple lines of the dress can have a party-ready look with plain fabric and lace, or a fun, casual style that shows off a bold print or a dainty scalloped eyelet hem. This is a project that sews up quickly, making it a great choice for on-line sellers, craft fair participants, and guardians of impatient vinyl friends. The temperature may be rising, but it won't be surprising that you definitely can-can quickly sew a summer wardrobe! This PDF pattern is designed to fit 18" dolls such as American Girl®. Recommended Fabrics: Light to medium-weight cottons or similar fabrics for the RIGHT side fashion fabric. Lawn, batiste, or other light weight wovens for the Lining. Not recommended for loosely woven fabrics.
The Faux Button Jumper Designed To Fit 18 Inch Journey Girl Dolls: The Faux Button Jumper is a simple pattern with detailing that looks complicated--but isn't! It looks like it has a front placket, but looks can be deceiving. The placket is all show, and the jumper actually has only three main pattern pieces, plus cut strips for Straps and Optional Pockets. Option 1 is an Easy-level project for newer seamstress or those who want quick results (no closures, no lining, no facing, no worries!). Option 2 is slightly more advanced, and is finished with a lining to accommodate lighter-weight fabrics. Either option can be made with or without the optional pockets. The directions have been written comprehensively with many explanatory details for those who are newer to sewing. An experienced seamstress will probably be able to construct the Jumper just by reading the instructions highlighted in bold text. Happy sewing! Special Note - This pattern is designed to fit a Journey Girls Doll specifically and will not fit the standard 18 inch doll such as American Girl Doll. A Journey Girls doll is 18 inches tall but has a much slimmer body. You can see more info on our Doll Measurements page.
The Nautical Skirt Designed To Fit 18 Inch Journey Girl Dolls: Calling all Journey Girls Dolls ready for an adventure! The Nautical Skirt With Pockets Pattern a skirt with deep pockets—so handy for dolls and their friends who want to stow important treasures! Option 1 of this PDF sewing pattern has decorative topstitching, an inset panel, deep patch pockets, a faux-buttoned waistband, and a straight gathered skirt that can be used with border prints or stripes. Option 2 is a simplified version of Option 1 to make the skirt an easy-level sewing project for newer seamstresses. Both skirts have flat fronts and elasticized backs for easy dressing and fit. Special Note - This pattern is designed to fit a Journey Girls Doll specifically and will not fit the standard 18 inch doll such as American Girl Doll. A Journey Girls doll is 18 inches tall but has a much slimmer body. You can see more info on our Doll Measurements page. This pattern is also available to fit American Girl dolls.

Thank you for the cute Heat Wave Halter Dress and Top.
Thanks so much Karen for the free Heat Wave Pattern. Thank you also for offering so many patterns for the Journey Girls dolls. I recently purchased some Journey Girls and discovered that I enjoy them much more than the American Girl dolls that I own. For some reason they seem more “fashionable” and I like their faces and hair better. Plus their affordability can’t be beat! I find I am redressing them more than my AG dolls. I have your Nautical Skirt and Jumper pattern. I am going to buy your Infinity Dress patten now as a thank you for designing for the Journey Girls and for offering your free pattern this week.
Thank you so much for the Heat Wave Dress, Karen! I love all your patterns!
Just wondering if there is any chance that you could offer a choice of a Journey Girl pattern as well as an AG pattern in your Friday freebee patterns. The AG patterns are more plentiful but are sometimes too big and require adjusting to fit the Journey Girls. It would be nice to have a choice. Just a thought.
Heatwave for me
I like the heat wave dress the best – very cute
Love all the patterns, but the JUMPER is my choice!
Thanks for sharing your talent in patterns!
Love them all. Thank you. I think the infinity dress is a dream.
I vote for the Heat Wave Halter dress and top pattern. I love the other patterns – just don’t have a journey girl doll. Thanks so much for the Friday Freebie Karen!
I really like them all, and so it was very hard to choose. I do have to say I love the jumper. thank you Karen.

As usual, all the patterns are to die for, but the one that catches my eye is the jumper pattern. Thank you Karen for which ever pattern that wins.

Thank you Karen for offering such cute patterns, I truly enjoy making clothes for my granddaughters dolls, and being able to make them so mNy different outfits wothout spending a fortune is greatly appreciated.
Karen, thank you for sharing your talent and generosity with all of us! I voted for the Heat Wave because it is the only one for 18 inch American Girl Dolls.
Once again a heartfelt thank you!
Thank you for the patterns! I love them all but the heat wave is my vote
Glad it was pointed out only one pattern is for American girl 18" dolls!! I almost voted for the infinity dress(so cute!) I only sew for 18" &. 15". ( bitty baby) dolls. Glad I read thru the comments-regardless…it is so generous to recv ANY pattern-they are all just too cute! Thank you!!!
I like the halter dress and top., however, I would be happy to have either of the patterns or dolls.
Heatwave!
Thank you for offering a free pattern this week! I really enjoy using other patterns from your collection! I think I may be voting for Heat Wave. It looks perfect for the weather that we’ve been having lately!
Your patterns are all very neat and precise, but the infinity dress is my favorite.
Thank you Karen. I love your patterns. I vote for the Heat Wave Halter Dress this week. It is crisp and fresh, beautiful.
Thank you for the awesome patterns! I love them all but the infinity is my vote

I vote for the Heat wave Halter top
Thank you Karen and thank you Pixie Faire for the Free pattern. This week I vote for Heat Wave dress and top.
I love the Infinity dress.
bravo Karen pour vos très belles tenues je vote pour la robe infinity
I’m voting for the Heat Wave Halter Dress and Top this week. I do not have any of the Journey dolls in my collection, but I do love the Infinity Dress. Had it been offered in the AG pattern sizing it would certainly have received my vote, but alas, no such luck. Thank you Karen, for all the pattern choices, and Cinnamon, for the opportunity to vote for a Freebie Friday selection.
je vote pour The Heat Wave Halter Dress And Top
Thank you, Karen. I’m voting for the Infinity dress, after much deliberation.
Thank you so much Karen; I love your patterns. I have both dolls, but I can’t resist the Heat Wave pattern.
Thank you for the free pattern, Karen! I voted for the Heat wave top and dress because it’s just so darn cute! Thanks again.
Such a hard choice! I have just purchased the Journey Girls two doll set with the party dresses, so any of the JG patterns would be a good start. However, the Heat Wave pattern is just too lovely to pass up! Great work as usual on these designs!!
I like the heat wave Halter dress/top. Cute dress so this one has my vote. Thank you.
Karen, thank you for the lovely pattern choices! They are all very beautiful. My vote is for the Heat Wave Halter Dress and Top pattern.
Thank you for the wonderful patterns. I voted for the Heat Wave pattern, however
I have several journey girls to sew for so will order those patterns.
I really like the different look of Infinity, even though it’s not one I can use. I’m sewing strictly for American Girl. Heat Wave is cute, and I’m sure I would use it eventually, but not for wear in the fall. The nautical skirt and the jumper both are more seasonal, or year-round styles, and I do like both of them, as well. But as far as my actual vote, I’m still going with my favorite — Infinity.
Al the outfits are lovely but I my vote goes for the halter dress.
Love the infinity dress! But all are wonderful. Thank you so much
Thank you, Karen. I’d love to add the Infinity Dress to my pattern library.
How very kind of you Miss Karen to gift of your talents in this way! Thank you for the pattern. I vote for the Jumper!
Infinity dress!
Infinity dress!
Thanks so much for the pattern ? I really like them all but I vote for the heat wave please ?
thank you. I like the Heat Wave.
What an eye for fashion you have! I will vote for the infinity dress! I love how it looks in blue!
I have to vote for the Heat Wave dress since I have the American girl and Madame Alexander dolls. They are all adorable dresses, and wish we could have them for the AG dolls. Thanks Karen for the patterns.
Thank you for this pattern. Also glad to see the journey girls patterns.
It was another tuff choice. But I went with the skirt . Its different from the skirt I have now. I like the jumper to it tuff to pick.
I voted for the heat wave. Thank you Karen and Pixie Faire.
Karen thank you for the freebie . The heat wave dress is very cute. Thank you for providing fir the freebie Friday.
It was hard to decide they all are so cute but the one I liked best was the heat wave.
Glad to see some Journey Girl patterns.
I like them all but had to vote for the jumper, so cute! Thank you for such lovely choices.
they are all cute but I like the Infinity dress the best!
All these patterns are cute!
Love them all Karen, thank you. I hope that everyone read the statements on which size dolls these fit so no one votes for a pattern they can’t use. I voted for the Heat Wave Halter dress so I don’t need to alter the pattern to fit my doll.
They were all adorable…really, how could anyone choose? I finally went nautical, but would be pleased to get any…
Thanks for offering such beautiful choices. Such a hard decision to make, as I’m sure with just a tiny adjustment, these patterns would work for any 18" doll. I like the Heat Wave best, and the faux button jumper next.
I have to ask, are any designers still working on patterns for Ellowyne? I haven’t seen anything new for a while and I still love to sew for those girls. The patterns for 18" dolls are almost overwhelming in their number and variety, but not so much for the others. I’d love to have some of the 18" patterns resized for Elle, Wellies, and others.
Thanks for all you do to promote the doll community. This is an awesome site and I appreciate all you offer.
I like them all. I had a hard time to just pick one.
Heat wave is the only the for the AG doll so I would vote for it I could.
Keep hoping I can do next time.
Love the infinity dress. Thank you!
All of these patterns are cute, but I think I would prefer the Faux Button Jumper. Although, any would be great. Thanks.
What a hard time making a decision!!! Finally settled on the Faux Button Jumper, but any one of these awesome patterns is wonderful! Thank you so very much!
They’re all great but have to vote for the Heat Wave halter dress. Thanks so much.
I voted for the Heat Wave Dress. It looks like it would be easy enough to sew. Thanks so much for this pattern.
It was a hard choice this time but I picked the heat wave pattern. It is a beautiful pattern, seems easy and quick to make. Thanks for the free patterns Forever 18.
I really like the Heat Wave dress and top, and think my granddaughters would like it as well. I like the curve along the top.
I vote for the infinity dress.
Love the Infinity Dress.
Oh I love all her patterns, but I vote for heatwave. thank you! :)
Thanks Karen, love your patterns. I voted the heatwave.
Took me ages to choose – thank you very much Karen for spoiling us this way.
Heat Wave it is!! I only have the American Girl doll to sew for.
Always a great pattern.? terrific instructions and great fit. Thank you so much Karen!!
All are so nice! Thank you, Karen, for your generosity. I voted for the HeatWave outfit.
I love them all! However I only have the Journey Girl doll, so any of those three would work well for me. Thank you for the great patterns.
The infinity dress was my choice – cute and different!
I vote for the infinity dress. It is intriqueing.
Although I liked some of the others better ,had to vote for the only one that fit the regular AG since that is all I own and the others would not fit. But thank you for any free patterns, I am sure someone will enjoy no matter which one wins.
Thank you Karen, your patterns are lovely. I voted the jumper but any will be appreciated. I own both AG and Journey Girl so any will be appreciated.
