Free Doll Clothes Pattern (July 13th, 2018) Help Us Decide

Hi everyone,

On Friday (July 13th, 2018) we will offer a pattern from Shari Fuller of Thimbles and Acorns for free as a special one-day only event. We'd love to have you vote to help us decide which pattern will win, then be sure to come back Friday to get your free copy.

More About Shari Fuller and Thimbles And Acorns, (in her own words).

My grandma gave me my first sewing lesson when I was about eight years old. I had been fascinated with her sewing for as long as I could remember and was so excited when she gave me a doll pattern and sent me to her sewing closet to pick out just the right fabric for my first project.
Sewing was a way for me to connect with my grandma, and although she may not have realized it at the time, this gift she gave me helped me become a better student. History became more exciting as I became captivated by the dynamic fashions through the ages. This is what Thimbles and Acorns is all about; building relationships and encouraging learning.

More information about the patterns:

Carrie Designed To Fit 18 Inch Dolls Such As American Girl®:  Born in 1867, Laura Ingalls Wilder had the privilege of witnessing a whole period of American history; the frontier, the woods, the Indian country of the great plains, the frontier towns, the building of railroads in wild, unsettled country, homesteading and farmers coming in to take possession. Later in her life, she began recording these memories in her classic “Little House on the Prairie” books, preserving a first hand account of those significant years in American History. The “Carrie” dress is a reproduction of the dress worn by Carrie Ingalls in a picture taken around 1880, the year recorded so vividly in her book “The Long Winter”.

Prairie Rose Bonnet Designed to Fit Girls and Women:  Get in touch with your inner Laura as you sew up this charming 1870's prairie inspired bonnet. This dress matches our doll-size Prairie Rose bonnet. It features a broad brim and cinches in the back with a drawstring to achieve a perfect fit. This easy to make pattern is a great choice for new sewists wanting to develop their sewing skills.

This PDF sewing pattern is designed to fit girls and women and includes sizes in XSmall, Small, Medium, Large, and XLarge.

Prairie Rose Dress Designed To Fit 14.5" Dolls Such As WellieWishers™:  Get in touch with your inner Laura as you sew up this charming 1870s prairie inspired dress, apron and bonnet ensemble. The dress features a gathered bodice with a yoke and waistband that button down the back. Finish the skirt with the wide ruffle for an old-fashioned prairie style, or leave the ruffle off and don an easy to make cloth flower for your modern prairie girl. The bonnet cinches in the back with a drawstring to achieve a perfect fit and the simple apron ties in the back and has two handy pockets, just the thing for a hard working Prairie girl. This easy to make pattern is a great choice for new sewists wanting to develop their sewing skills.

I love your Thimbles & Acorns patterns, they are so very nice. Thank you for all the historical info you put into them. I love history and the history of fashion. Your patterns help me learn the old terms for historical fashion and the reasons why some fashions came about. The Marie Antoinette pattern info was fasinating and I have always loved the “Little House” books with all the rich detail. Thank you for your beautiful and well designed patterns. I look forward to sewing the Carrie doll dress.

Thank you for offering these wonderful patterns. I already have several of your patterns for the 18" dolls including Carrie. I am just so interested in all the historical tidbits you put in each pattern! My Grandma taught me to sew also. Hand sewing with a paper bag pattern around age 5-6. I don’t have a Wellie but I’m voting for that size because you never know when you might need a pattern in that size. Also because I’m a pattern hoarder!
