Free Doll Clothes Pattern (March 30th, 2018 ) Help Us Decide

Hi everyone,

On Friday (March 30th) we'll have one of the following four doll clothes patterns available for free. This week we're featuring the very talented work from Renee Adams of  Dollhouse Designs!

More About Renee and Dollhouse Designs, (in her own words): "Inspiration is everywhere! I am a great fan of historical dramas as well as history and fashion itself, and so much of what I see becomes food for creative thought. I taught myself to sew soon after my daughter was born, as I wanted to dress her up in slightly old fashioned finery. It wasn't long before I was adapting patterns. Before long, her dolls needed fancy things! Her cache of Dress Up costumes was a favorite of her friends, as well.  As the years went by there was less call for mom-made things and the dolls were set aside. One day I was musing how much I missed sewing for dolls and little girl whimsies. I allowed my inner child to have rein and ordered a doll just for myself & a new sewing machine. After selling my outfits online, I began to receive frequent requests for my patterns. So, another road opened before me. I was able to harness my naturally artistic nature and pastimes in art, history, writing, photography, photoshop, and fashion into a new source of fun. I simply adore designing, and find it hard Not to be mentally working out new fashions in my head all the time. The thing that really makes my heart sing is when I receive notes from moms & grandmas telling me how thrilled their little ones are with their new doll outfits, made by loving hands. The magic of childhood stays alive in all of us, it's just a matter of finding it. Fortunately, the doll collecting/crafting community is such a full and Pleasant place to find like-minded friends! Pixie Faire is a nest of creativity that continues to evolve and finds new ways to inspire. I am very excited to be a part of it."

Learn More About Each Pattern:

Filly Horse Blanket & Accessories for 13 & 20 Inch Toy Horses: Real horses need a lot of care. They wear special coats called Blankets and Leg Wraps to protect and warm their delicate legs. This pattern will create realistic looking (and great fitting) horsey apparel for your 20" Adult & 13" Foal (Baby) toy horses made by: American Girl®, Our Generation® and My Life®.

This pattern includes accessories in 5 sizes to fit 3 major brands of toy horses (American Girl® - Our Generation® & My Life®). The leg wraps are shaped specifically for front and back legs. The blankets feature a strap closure underneath the horse's belly.   There are a variety of ways shown to make your creation unique.

Winter Princess Nightgown For 18 Inch Dolls:  Carefree and comfortable, this nightgown (or dress) has a pretty banded neckline and can be made in either knit or woven fabrics, with a long or short length skirt. View A has 3/4 length sleeves with sleeve bands. View B features short, softly puffed sleeves with a gathered elastic edge as well as an optional yoke overlay.

Dress this pretty nightgown up with embroidered ribbon, lace, or other trims for a unique look or leave simple and let your fabric “do the talking”. This PDF pattern is sure to be a fun addition to any 18” vinyl girl’s wardrobe and is a quick sew. Whip up a bunch in different colors and styles.

Winter Snow Queen Gown For 18 Inch Dolls:  Is your doll an Elsa fan?  Now you can transform her into her favorite frozen snow queen with this gorgeous dress pattern!  This PDF pattern will help you create a beautiful long dress and bodice with an attached train.  The long sleeves in this dress will end in elegant points over your doll's hands.  The 5-gored skirt can be made with or without the side slit.  The skirt of the dress is extra long in the back, forming a beautiful long train behind her.  The dress opens in the back and the bodice opens on one side.  Make the top with sheer mesh knit or use an optional woven version.  You can make this dress as grand or as simple as you like!

Nordic Winter Cape & Cap For 18 Inch Dolls: The Nordic Winter Cape and Cap PDF pattern is the second pattern in the princess inspired series.  The traditional Nordic folk dress of Norway was the influence for this Princess-inspired Outerwear.  This Cape and Cap pattern coordinates perfectly with the upcoming companion Winter Bunad Outfit pattern.   It includes pattern pieces to make attractive scallops, shaped trim, and design templates for use with hand-embroidery, fabric paint, or appliqué –whatever your vision.  This can be made as simply or as finely detailed as  you wish!

This charming capelet (short cape attached at shoulders) has shaped side pieces.  The main section of full cape sweeps long and full.  The cap is adorable and fits just right.  All pieces are lined.  The cape uses a clasp or ties to close.  The cap uses elastic or ties.  Both pieces are tailored perfectly for American Girl dolls and similar 18" dolls.

That you Renee for all of these beautiful patterns. I can’t imagine the number of happy little girls whose dollies are dressed in your fashions in the future. I choose the Winter snow queen gown as my granddaughter was at a wedding recently and now wants a wedding dress for her doll. This would be perfect.

I love all the patterns so it’s a hard choice. The Winter Snow Queen won out because I have so much “fancy” fabric I need to use up and I love the train. The others are on my wishlist for later.
Thanks!

Wow – those are all beautiful patterns so it was a tough choice. I’ll be happy with any of the 3 18 inch doll patterns – only because I don’t have a toy horse!

Thank you Renee for offering one of your great patterns. It was a difficult decision, but I chose the Winter Princess nightgown. I love the variety of sleeve lengths and the mandarin collar. I could see using the pattern for formal and everyday dresses, as well as, night wear.
