Hi everyone,
On Friday (February 24th) we are highlighting the work of Heidi Mittiga, creator of the Flossie Potter patterns collection, by offering her brand new Betsy Ross Shop dress pattern for free. This beautiful dress pattern is designed to fit 18 inch dolls! This new pattern will be free one-day-only and then it will return to the regular price.
More About Heidi Mittiga and Flossie Potter Designs, (in her own words): It’s hard to believe that my first pattern, “Women of History: Susan B. Anthony” was published five years ago! Since then I’ve made patterns from other historical periods, a 1970s collection, modern fashions, and accessories. Because of the recent American presidential election and Presidents’ Week celebrations, I wanted to pay a tribute to Betsy Ross, the woman who was credited with creating the iconic early American flag with its 13 red and white stripes and circle of 13 white stars on a blue canton, known as the “Betsy Ross Flag.” So I created a new “Women of History” trilogy: the “Betsy Ross Shop Dress,” the “Betsy Ross Shop Apron & Cap,” and the “Betsy Ross Flag.”
More About The Betsy Ross Shop Dress Pattern: Betsy Ross was an upholsterer and seamstress who is credited with making the most-recognizable early American flag. The "Betsy Ross Shop Dress" is the third sewing pattern in the Flossie Potter "Women of History" series and contains a historical information page on this American folk hero. The dress is an everyday dress from the late 1700s, which we can envision Betsy wearing as she sewed her iconic flag. The bodice features a faux front placket with 5 tiny buttons, decorative bodice seaming, a low round neckline with ruffle, and center front waist point. The sleeves end in a point and are pushed up and tied in place so they will be out of the way while Betsy sews. The skirt portion is gathered along the sides of the waist, as was fashionable in the day.
