Hi everyone,
On Friday (October 27th) we are highlighting the work of Heidi Mittiga, creator of the Flossie Potter Patterns collection, by offering her brand new 1950s Pocketbook pattern for free. This darling little pocketbook for 18 inch dolls will complement so many outfits! This new pattern will be free one-day-only and then it will return to the regular price.
More About Heidi Mittiga and Flossie Potter Patterns, (in her own words): "Hello! I’m Heidi Mittiga, designer of Flossie Potter Patterns. My partnership with Pixiefaire has been a wonderful experience where I’ve come to know many creative and talented people and have learned so much about the technical side of pattern designing and publishing. My tag line is Yesterday and Today, because I just couldn’t limit myself to any particular time period.
For my Freebie Friday giveaway, I’ve created this brand-new accessory for my ‘50s Collection, the 1950s Pocketbook. Every little girl back in the day wanted to have her own “grown up” pocketbook to carry all her essentials, so I thought it fitting to make one for our dolls! It pairs well with the Little ‘50s Dress, Becka’s Dress, and Joni’s Uptown Dress, as well as the Little ‘50s Swing Coat and Tuscan Winter Set, both of which have been donated for an upcoming Mod Doll Monday Giveaway.
Jumping further back in time, upcoming patterns will be the Colonial Farmer & Colonial Gentleman Set along with Colonial Accessories (three-cornered hat as well as Colonial shoes for boys and girls!)
I hope you enjoy sewing my patterns as much as I’ve enjoyed creating them!"
More About The 1950's Pocketbook Pattern: Although the term was coined in the 1600s, a "pocketbook" was what ladies in the 1950s, and even into the 1960s, called their purse. It held all of their essentials: a compact with a mirror, red lipstick, a comb, handkerchief, wallet and keys. Young girls also carried miniature versions of their mother's pocketbook because it made them feel grown up.
The Flossie Potter "1950s Pocketbook" is just the right size for 18" dolls such as American Girl®. Its accordion pleated sides allow the pocketbook to open wide so your doll can access her essentials.
