Shari has two pattern collections on Pixie Faire, Thimbles and Acorns, her original brand - and after years of collaborating with designer Eve Coleman on the Keepers Dolly Duds Designs brand, Shari is now the owner of that brand too. Each brand brings a unique look to historical designs in a beautifully detailed way.
More About Shari (in her own words): "My grandma gave me my first sewing lesson when I was about eight years old. I had been fascinated with her sewing for as long as I could remember and was so excited when she gave me a doll pattern and sent me to her sewing closet to pick out just the right fabric for my first project. Sewing was a way for me to connect with my grandma, and although she may not have realized it at the time, this gift she gave me helped me become a better student.
History became more exciting as I became captivated by the dynamic fashions through the ages. This is what Thimbles and Acorns is all about; building relationships and encouraging learning.
In November of 2011, I wrote my first pattern. Eve was the first one to take me up on the offer to test it. We quickly struck up a friendship and before long we were collaborating in our pattern making journey. Working with Eve these past seven years has been a privilege and a delight and I am honored to be able to bring Keepers Dolly Duds Designs to Pixie Faire!"
Shari is also a primary instructor throughout the Sewing With Cinnamon & Friends course collection! You can find many hands-on tutorials showcasing her vast sewing knowledge in courses like Sewing A Bespoke Garment, Sewing a Themed Wardrobe: Fairy Tale, Renaissance Era, Colonial Williamsburg, and many more!
Inquiring Minds Want To Know:
Q: What's your favorite food?
Just about every day I like to have a Granny Smith Apple with peanut butter and chocolate chips... It's the ultimate one-dish meal. The peanut butter and apple make a great healthy lunch (it's homemade peanut butter by the way) and the chocolate chips are a built in dessert. My absolute favorite food is homemade pizza... because it is pure romance. My husband and I have been making it every Friday since we started dating... 34 years ago! It's become a Fuller Family tradition.
Q: What's your favorite tv show or movie?
Return to Me. My husband and I tend to sing through the whole movie because it has great background music and the story brings out the romance.
Q: Coffee or Tea?
Water... I drink a lot of water. Hot water in my favorite mug in the winter helps keep me warm and cold water in my favorite water bottle keeps me refreshed in the summer.
Q: Where's your favorite place to shop?
Walmart, it's convenient (because I'm not particularly fond of shopping) AND my daughter works there so most everyone there knows me as "Jackie's Mom"... and treat me like a celebrity.
Q: What inspired your brand name?
Thimbles and Acorns was inspired by my daughter who became infatuated with the story of Peter Pan when she was three years old. The thimble and acorn were the "kisses" that Peter and Wendy exchanged.
We'd love to hear from you. Leave a comment and tell us which Thimbles and Acorns pattern design you love most!
Thanks, everyone!

I love the historical details on all these patterns. I think I like the once upon a time gown the best
I have been an avid fan of her patterns. I am a retired costumer who adore historical clothing. I was doing full size historical costume for myself then decided that was too much cost and time for a hobby so I switched to the 18" dolls. That was when I discovered these wonderful patterns. I am impressed with historical accuracy that are thought into the construction. Even though I could create my own patterns they do the hard work for me so I can focus on the details like trim and especially embroidery which is the enjoyable part of construction.
It is hard to pick just one favorite, but I guess the So Long Farewell Dress is one of my favorites. She has paid so much attention to detail and all her patterns are so pretty
I can not choose A favorite pattern!
I have been a long time cosumer of Shari’s patterns, since before she came to Pixie Faire. I have won many blue ribbons at KY State Fair using her patterns. The Civil War soldier and a pioneer were two of the first patterns I got from her. My husband carved a long rifle to add to my “Daniel Boone” and I researched badges worn on the Union Army at that time and made badges to put on my Civil War soldier uniform.
Thimbles & Acorns designs are a must have for anyone that sews for historical dolls. The details in the designs and in the instruction make them a joy to create new outfits for my dolls. I love them!
So many lovely patterns! How can I pick a favorite? I have the Prairie Rose pattern and I’ve made it several times. It’s a very lovely pattern. I hope to add more to my collection soon!
Love the patterns. My favorite is the northwoods dress!
I love the clocked stockings pattern! I’d love more patterns for AGAT, especially these
Thimbles and Acorns is one of my very favorite doll clothing designers available anywhere. I love historic patterns. The gigot sleeve dress is one of my favorites – it is feminine and light.
Shari’s patterns are easy to use; her instructions are excellent.
Thimbles and Acorn is one of my favorite Pixie Faire designers! Their patterns are stunning!
Wow! These patterns are amazing! What talent you have to design in such small dimensions as these AG dolls. Then the icing on the cake is the historical aspect. Thank you for featuring great designers!
I love historical patterns, and absolutely love all of your patterns. I so enjoy watching you when you teach classes on Sewing with Cinnamon as well. Thank you for all you do.
I adore many of Shari’s patterns. A few of my favorites are: the So Long, Farewell Dress, the Sacque Back Gown, and the Once Upon A Time Gown. I’m planning to make the Edwardian Wardrobe Steamer Trunk shortly – wish me luck!
I appreciate that there are also historical boy patterns , especially the colonial outfit.
I am a huge fan of Shari! I love, love, love how she teaches us about the history of fashion. It is super interesting. And, of course, her patterns are gorgeous, well made, and her tutorials are perfect. I love making her patterns and I love that they are historically accurate and include all possible layers! :) My favorite patterns are her Hampton Court and George Whashington sets. But all of her 18th, 19th and early 20th century outfits are wonderful too!
I love Thimbles and Acorns historical patterns. The Happily Ever After Gown is just stunning!
Hi Shari! Your historical patterns, along with Eve’s designs have always been my favorites because of your dedication to research and accuracy. Laura and Mary is my all-time favorite. :)
My favorite go to is the open front cardigan. Such a quick and easy pattern to finish off an outfit! Goes with dresses, skirts or jeans
Each pattern is so beautiful and inspiring!
I love these historical patterns. My favorites are the Gigot Sleeve Dress, Beret Sleeve Dress, and the Once Upon a Time Gown.
My favorite Thimbles and Acorn pattern is the Frog Doll 18" Cloth Doll Pattern. I have made so many of these adorable frogs for my nieces. I love sewing them so much! I’m currently making quite a few to donate to the “Toys for Tots” Christmas charity for disadvantaged children. These adorable frogs are sewn with much love! xox
Wonderful variety of patterns. My fave is Open-Front Cardigan Upcycle 18" Doll Clothes Pattern
I confess I must have more Thimbles & Acorns patterns (and KDD) than any other! I love the designs and also all the research and information that is shared in the patterns. Thank you, Shari, for bringing more joy and delight to the world through your patterns and classes.
I’ve been waiting for Thimbles and Acorns to be the featured designer!! Adore these patterns so very much. Historical sewing gives me life. 🙏
I like the uniqueness of Shari’s historical designs. It’s always fun to make something out of the ordinary and dress up the dolls. Thanks for the exciting ideas.
Live the beauty of your patterns.
Shari is my favorite pattern designer. I have been purchasing her patterns since I joined Pixie Faire. I have learned to appreciate historical fashions thanks to her. I love so many of her patterns that I can’t pick just one favorite.
I have been buying Shari’s patterns for many many years. I have also printed off and kept all the history of fabric, notions etc that she use to post on her website. Truly wish she would still post those. Fabulous knowing a wee bit about the history of items we use while sewing. Also love how she adds a wee bit of history with all her patterns. What can I say Sherry is simply wonderful
I love the period clothes. The dolls are so cute dressed up.
I recently made the Wrapped Kalasaris Dress. It was fun to sew and gave me just the look I was going for.
Shari’s patterns are always so unique and interesting – and more importantly, teach me so many things! I probably had the most fun making a straw brimmed bonnet using her 3 Straw Hats pattern … her instructions are always so clear and easy to follow!
OMG I love just about all her patterns! I’ve loved her patterns since before she started selling them on Pixie Faire. She is one of my top 3 favorite pattern designers ever. I guess if I had to choose a favorite pattern from her library it would probably be the Watteau gown, but there are so so many that I love.

I have never used one of her patterns because I make clothes for little girls to play with. They don’t like historical clothes. They want the doll to dress like they do. But if I ever do make a historical gown, I will go to Thimbles and Acorns. She has lovely patterns.
