Get to know Karen Sherman (in her own words): "Designing came to me quite by accident. I have sewn for years and worked many years at a Bernina store. I was also teaching painting classes and designing and selling patterns at decorative painting conventions. My granddaughter was doing competitive cheer and she was also into American Girl dolls. She and her teammates wanted doll outfits to match their uniforms, so that became my new job. Keeping up with all the girls and the uniform business kept me busy for a couple of years. One day while she was with me, we discovered the Pixie Faire site. I was so excited to see all of the wonderful designs and the quality of what we saw. I submitted a design and was accepted. It has been a great journey and I have and am continuing to learn all the time. It has been a pleasure to design for Pixie Faire and the great staff. I love sewing for dolls!"

Inquiring Minds Want To Know...
Q: What's your favorite food?
Karen: As far as isolating what my favorite food is, that is not easy. Guess you could say that I am a steak girl. If given my choice of anything on the menu, I would probably choose steak. However, I am easy to please and like most things.
Q: What's your favorite tv show or movie?
Karen: Love some of the old dance movies. Always watch Dancing with the Stars. I grew up taking tap dancing. My mom and I would strike out once a week to a little town about 10 miles from home so I could take dance lessons. We did that for years, so it is kinda in my blood.
Q: Coffee or Tea??
Karen: I prefer coffee. Drink it every morning, love iced tea too.
Q: Where's your favorite place to shop?
Karen: Shopping is a fun thing that my girls and I do all the time. I have a daughter, two granddaughters and a great-granddaughter. The shopping bug has bitten all of us. My son and grandson, no so much. Love a great fabric store for sure.
Q: What inspired your brand name?
Karen: As far as what inspired my brand name, I’m not sure. Was looking for something cute and different to use as my name. I think the name was just a God thing. It just hit me one day and I guess it seemed like that was it. I will never forget when I had a booth at Quilt Market in Houston, people came by saying that they could not imagine what Jelly Bean Soup was when the booths were listed at the show. They had to come and see. That was fun!
Q: What is your dream vacation?
Karen: My dream vacation would be to go to Maine in the fall. Would love to see the trees turning and visit some of the vintage shops.
We'd love to hear from you. Leave a comment and tell us - which look is best! And be sure to thank Karen for giving away such a cute outfit!
Thanks, everyone!

I love the mall rat look. I think the pink sweater and black boots set the dress off.
Thanks Karen for creating such a stylish dress. I really like the color and pattern of it. Anyway, the outfit I think looks best is the “Mall Rat” one. Love the sweater in contrast to the dress and the boots.
Thank you, Karen, for such an adorable outfit. :~)
I have to say the ’80s Girl one, because I love the accessories!
Clearly, this dress is versatile. It looks great with both accessories sets. I love the pop of colour with the pink sweater, so I vote Mall Rat. Thank you Karen, for the great versatile dress!
This was a tough decision. I finally chose the 80’s style
Love this cute outfit but think the 80’s do it best.

Super duper cute. Love both but especially the Mall Rat outfit. Would love to dress my doll in this outfit !1
I like the “Mall Rat” the sweater completes the outfit. So cute!
Love that 80’s Girl!!
Although I would use different fabric, I believe that I would make the “Mall Rat” outfit. I would love the have a fuchsia colored sweater, and maybe others in blue, pink, cream, white, and purple. You can never have too many sweaters, or too many dolls.
Thank you, Dianne
I’m partial to 80s look.
I like Mall Rat.
I love the Mall rat for sure although both are so adorable.
Thanks for the cute outfits. The 80’s weren’t that long ago.
Mall Rat for the win? They’re both cute, but as a kid who grew up in the ’80’s, we wouldn’t have worn those fabrics on the dress in the ’80’s. The outfit is super cute, though, either way it’s worn!
Both outfits are very nice! As an 80’s girl, I absolutely have to pick the 80’s look as my favorite. Super cute!!! Thanks for the opportunity to vote and learn more about how Karen got into designing doll clothes.
Love the Hello Kitty lunchbox with the 80’s girl!
The Mall Rat outfit set – love the pink and black together! Love the shopping bag too!!
Thank you, Dianne! I like the Mall Rat outfit! Looks very cute and modern. I love shopping at the mall, too!

80’s gal! Her sneakers & accessories are a perfect complement to the outfit!
I like the Mall Rat best. Might be because those lace leggings make me think they would be itchy!!
Thank you for a great giveaway. I love the Mall Rat Look.
Both are cute, but being at lots of craft sales little girls seem to like the funky look so would say 80s look would be better.
I love both outfits! It was a difficult choice, but in the end I had to vote for the Mall Rat outfit! The accessories are what swayed my decision. Those boots are the cutest!
Thank you to all the designers. I can sew just about anything with a good pattern, but I don’t think I would ever attempt to make my own, though I know that my mother did, back in the day. Thanks again!
They’re both cute but being an 80’s girl had to go with that one :)
