Hi Everyone! It's time to wrap up the Fairy Tale topic for now. I don't know about you, but I have thoroughly enjoyed this detailed look at creating three magical fairytale dresses! In Part 4, Shari is back to wrap up the topic with a look at adding the finishing touches with detailed embellishments. Follow along an she takes us back into her studio...
All the planning, designing, and sewing I've been doing for my three Cinderella gowns has had me feeling a bit like a fairy godmother... although Popelka, the Cinderella from our story, had three magical hazelnuts instead of a fairy godmother - so I guess that would make me more of a magical nut. I am sure my family would find this a more amusing description of me, but I digress. For all practical purposes, these gowns are finished and they look very pretty as they are, but a little more magic is needed to make them fit for a fairy tale princess.
Let's start with the Rose pink gown, the first one that hatched out of one of Popelka's hazelnuts. I've already added some silver trimmed ribbon to the gown and the pinking to the kirtle skirting, but it doesn't quite have that “magic” you'd expect to see in a fairy tale gown. The story says it was trimmed in silver and pearls
- so let's see what we can do.

Follow along in the video to see how to dress up the plain silver and white ribbon with a little embroidery and pearls, add a bit of silver sparkle to the kirtle, and finish off the shirting with a few more pearls!
This gown is made using the Hampton Court Gown paired with the kirtle from the two new patterns. The Hampton Court Fairy Tale Gown Pixie Pack can also be purchased (when it's back in stock).
Now let's turn our attention to Popelka's second dress, the sky blue one. There is so much going on with the design of this dress, that it is quite elegant as it is, but the story says it was decorated with pearls and diamonds, so let's see what we can do.

For the sleeves I'm going to divide the puff in two by stitching the panes together along the center edges and topping them with the same pearl buttons I used on the bodice. I went over how to do this in our last video and I can tell you right
now, that it is much easier to do before you sew the sleeves to the gown. As a finishing touch, I am going to sew a pearl and diamond button on the center front for a broach.
This gown is the Once Upon A Time Gown pattern. The full coordinating Once Upon A Time Gown Pixie Pack is available for this one too!
Popelka's final gown was the most wonderful, it was her mother's a pearl colored dress, repaired and embroidered with gold. With the fur lined sleeves and the gold embroidery this gown has a “Once upon a time” beginning, but I have a little magic up my sleeve to give it a “Happily every after finish”.

Because our story mentions a ruby diadem, I think a little pop of red added to our Pearl gown would be stunning, so let's do a little Renaissance style beading to finish this gown off. The bead pattern I am using is very simple and I plan to apply a set to the neckline of the kirtle as well as the front of the placard. Follow along in the video tutorial to see how to add this beautiful beaded embellishment to your gown!
This design is the Happily Ever After Gown pattern. The coordinating Happily Ever After Gown Pixie Pack is available too!
Thank you for joining my on my fairy tale adventure. I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did. Perhaps, in a future series, we can meet the elusive charming prince that rescued our little princess.
Wishing you all a Happily Ever After! See you next time.

Loved the gowns, all the detail and this series. Thanks
Catherine
