Sewing On The Go Part 2

Hi Everyone! I hope you enjoyed our look at various projects that work well for Sewing on the go. In Part Two, I'll continue with the theme and show you two project bags perfect for carrying your tiny project along with you on your next travel adventure!

Follow along in the video tutorial as I show you how to make the Portable Closet pattern, from Love U Bunches. I'll be using this bag to carry my projects for my upcoming trip! It's a perfect size to toss into a backpack to tote bag, has a clear vinyl front making it easy to see what you're working on, and also scales up or down super easily making it oh-so-versatile!

  • Premium Vinyl, We've used this ByAnnie Premium Vinyl product and have it for sale at Pixie Faire! Here's a link to the listing to by it as a 16x54 inch roll. I'll be using this product in Part Three as well, when I make my sewing tools travel case. One roll will be enough for a variety of projects!
The ByAnnie team has created this video for using their product, it's a great resource!
  • SewTites magnetic cutting system and accessories. You'll love these products! In the video I show the tiny magnetic sewing pins, they are a great alternative to wonder clips. They work nicely to swing with vinyl as well as in combination with the magnetic cutting mat for holding pattern pieces and cutting things out!
  • The product I showed in the video is The Hand Mix Magnetic Sewing Pins
  • The Magnetic Cutting System, is pricey, but so amazing! Once you cut on a magnetic cutting mat, you'll never go back!

I love that idea Nancy or I might install a zipper. With crochet projects, velcro sticks to all the yarn so I’d try to avoid snagging the yarn or anything I’d make on velcro while taking it in or out of the bag. But I totally agree with all the moving about and turbulence mishaps, it would sure make sense to avoid having items falling out. :)

I often take hand sewing with me as we travel. We love to travel. I have made the vinyl bag with on variation. I put the Velcro all the way across the top of the bag. This way if it fell off my lap on the plane no small items fell out!
