Aloha Vintage Swimsuit 18" Doll Clothes Pattern

4   |

The Aloha Vintage Swimsuit is a historically-inspired design that is appropriate for the late 1930s through early 1950s. Designed exclusively for woven fabrics, features include authentic bloomer-style underpants, a ruffled, high-waisted overskirt, a halter-style top, decorative tie bows, and a vintage-inspired sunhat. An extra set of cutting lines is provided for dolls who are on the chubbier side of the 18" doll world, and also for more recent soft-bodied dolls with smaller dimensions. Directions are written comprehensively to provide many explanatory details for newer seamstresses.

The swimsuit is also specifically designed to pair with the Forever 18 Inches Aloha Hula Accessories! The high-waisted bloomers can be sewn with longer leg openings and without the swimsuit skirt to complement the grass hula skirt and provide a splash of color at the waistline. The swimsuit top is a perfect complement to the bloomers, grass skirt, and other accessories. Happy sewing!

This PDF sewing pattern is designed to fit 18" dolls such as American Girl®. The Aloha Vintage Swimsuit and Hula Accessories patterns are each available individually, or buy the bundled package to save!

The good old days!

I enjoyed making this pattern reminded me of one I made using a woven in the 60's. She looks cuter than I did! Pictures are sideways? Oh well!

Remember the olden days

I am just going to order this pattern for old times sake. I made myself this pattern for the summer of 1949 or 1950. There was no stretch or stretchy fabric available in those days --only wool knits. So I used woven cotton. What a surprise when I dove off the pier in the ocean! The fabric was so heavy with water that I had to stay under long enough to pull everything back where it belongs and then had to swim hard for the surface because I weighed so much. The life guard was a little concerned. But I am still here.

The Aloha Vintage Swimsuit

Love making swimsuits from woven fabric. It gives you so many more choices. Very clear instructions and 2 cut lines so you can fit the different size girls. As well as a couple of style options. Fun to make.

Versatile and fun swimsuit

Great pattern allows for this suit to be made in woven fabrics, so there are lots of fun prints that can be used. The top can be made reversible to change to the look, too. The pattern includes a "skinny" cut and a larger cut for plumper dolls, so the fit can be adjusted to suit each doll's shape. Pair this with the hula accessory pattern and you've got a fantastic little outfit! The designer puts great care and thought into her patterns, and this one is no exception. Instructions are detailed and well illustrated.
