Aloha Vintage Swimsuit 18" Doll Clothes Pattern

12   |

The Aloha Vintage Swimsuit is a historically-inspired design that is appropriate for the late 1930s through early 1950s. Designed exclusively for woven fabrics, features include authentic bloomer-style underpants, a ruffled, high-waisted overskirt, a halter-style top, decorative tie bows, and a vintage-inspired sunhat. An extra set of cutting lines is provided for dolls who are on the chubbier side of the 18" doll world, and also for more recent soft-bodied dolls with smaller dimensions. Directions are written comprehensively to provide many explanatory details for newer seamstresses.

The swimsuit is also specifically designed to pair with the Forever 18 Inches Aloha Hula Accessories! The high-waisted bloomers can be sewn with longer leg openings and without the swimsuit skirt to complement the grass hula skirt and provide a splash of color at the waistline. The swimsuit top is a perfect complement to the bloomers, grass skirt, and other accessories. Happy sewing!

This PDF sewing pattern is designed to fit 18" dolls such as American Girl®. The Aloha Vintage Swimsuit and Hula Accessories patterns are each available individually, or buy the bundled package to save!

Aloha Vintage Swimsuit

I love it. It made up well and looks cute as can be. I plan to make a couple more.

I really love this pattern. I did make some adjustments to the swimsuit top straps. Instead of crossing over in the back, I just sewed the strap straight down and into the lining in the same way that I did for the front. I just wanted it to be easier for my daughter to put on the doll. I didn't make the skirt, just the bloomers, but I did have some trouble with the casings for the leg holes. When sewing up the side seam of the bloomers as well as the inner leg seam, be sure you don't close up the casing openings. I just assumed I should sew over the whole thing, and I ended up not being able to get my elastic through. This is mostly due to my lack of sewing experience, but it's something that is easy to mess up, and really frustrating to fix. Oh well, I know for next time. I will definitely be making this pattern again! :) ginnie /

Aloha Vintage Swimsuit

This was a great pattern. The straps were difficult, and I will do them differently next time, but the swimsuit came out adorable!

Swim suit

I had fun with this one I made doll and girl matching suits

Super cute vintage suit.

I resized this pattern down 85% to fit on my My Friend Mandy doll. I made the suit with bathing suit fabric and as such the seams were a little too bulky. My next suit I am going to just make short shorts to go under the skirt and I not use the loops on the top. I think you could just use a snap on the back of the top and tie the upper part of the suit. Also possibly to the resizing or the bathing suit fabric my suit bottom is too roomy in the tush. I am going to make the luau outfit next.
