We don’t do santa in our home so My favorite holiday tradition is watching our children open gifts with the knowledge that we worked hard for their gifts and seeing their excitement over what we got them.
My favorite tradition is making homemade oraments from flour. As a child one Christmas my parents could aford little. We lived in the country in a one room home with no running water and a wood stove. My father found a small cedar tree and we made oraments from flour and garland from popcorn. My mother saved stamps I got a little jewlery box with a ballerina doll that turned when you turned the key. My brother got a hand made truck from my Dad. As time for our family got better we still make the homemade oraments and through both parents are gone now every Christmas my sisters and I get together and make some oraments from flour. Now my nieces join in the fun.
My favorite holiday tradition is eating a standing rib roast with my family.
My favorite holiday tradition is decorating the outside of the house and yard in memory of our oldest daughter. Kim. who died 27 years ago. She always wanted us to do that and now we never miss year.
My favorite holiday tradition is decorating the Christmas tree. As a child my mother would buy or make us a new ornament each year. I now do the same for my daughter. My sister also makes a handmade ornament each year for all the nieces and nephews. When we decorate our tree and hang my childhood ornaments (my mom saved them all) along with my young daughters collection we share and make memories, new and old. You can’t help feel the love and warmth those memories bring, especially since my mother passed just over a year ago.
