I sew, knit and crochet primarily as a hobby. On average I spend 4 hours a week on different sewing, knitting and crochet projects.
I sew, knit, crochet and do other crafts for relaxation. How much time I spend depends on the time of year. Average would be 6 hours per week.
I sew and crochet primarily as a side business as I work full time. I also make handmade gifts for my family. Doll clothes, pocket books, primitive items, mittens, gloves, hats, slippers as well as crocheted baby sets. On average, I spend 8-10 hours a week on them as I sew and crochet in the evening while I am watching television. I find it relaxing after my full time day job to go off by myself and create something. Of course there are times we craft less and times we craft more (such as when I am preparing for a craft show). Sometimes I take a break from it as I have a lot of other hobbies such as gardening, painting, writing, reading, etc. Never craft when I have time I can spend with my husband, children or grandchildren unless we are working on a project together. My family comes first as I know how precious the time is we get to be together.
I knit and sew as a hobby, but would love to make it my job. I currently knit about 30 hours per week and sew about 10. Mostly because my job has been slow so I can knit at work. And also because I am coming out of the holiday gift crunch time.
I see primarily as a hobby and would like to spend an hour a week. As my children grow, I find that I have more time for hobbies again!
