Cultural Tradition:
My heritage is French-Canadian and English. Not too exciting. However, one of my daughters-in-law’s family dates back centuries in New Orleans. So, Kings Day (January 6) and Mardi Gras (March 5) will be celebrated with great enthusiasm! Fortunately, our whole family is included in the festivities. Meanwhile, one of my sons has moved back to Texas and although he was not overly happy about the move, he now is a true Texan! He is totally into the culture, pearl button shirts, boots, cowboy hats and even country music! In California the big “holiday” with nothing historical, is Cinco de Mayo. Parades, decorations, food and everything in between. And, let’s not forget the summertime BBQs and luaus.
A Cultural Pattern: Perhaps, something for Madi Gras.
Thankyou!

We don’t have many cultural traditions. The ones we do have are, my kids draw names each year for Christmas. The adult kids together and the grandchildren as a group. The grand kids range in age from 20 down to 10 months. This year we broke a little tradition because one family had no money to spend on their kids for Christmas, so the rest of the kids each picked a name from their family and spoiled them. It was probably the best Christmas they have ever had. I have European lineage, but my family was in the United States as early as 1640, so I would like to see some early settlers and native costumes.
