I have a hard time finding embellishments. Zippers I cut down and use from the longer ones. Velco I cut into more manageable strips for the dolls. Lace and buttons I use from baby clothes I buy at yard sales. I do find buttons at Walmart sometimes.
From my grandmothers tin that I have saved since I was a teenager over 40 years she was a seamstress, fabric dolls & toys maker I have laces, tiny rickrack and smalls. Pixie Faire sold Velcro which I bought. I have made lace on the embroidery machine for edging on dresses. One just needs to think how to recycle items from other clothes.
Oh I also found a fabric store that was going out of business and found treasures of vintage fabrics. Bonus
Love making clothes for dolls.
I have the hardest time finding soft velcro/hook and loop in stores. Everything in the store is so scratchy! I’d love to know more sources for good doll sized notions.

I live in a city of over a million people but which has very few sewing shops.I have to use the internet and thrift shops.I always try to recycle lace and trimmings from used garments. For shoe supplies,I have found Pixie Faire to be great. We don’t have Joann’s or Hobby Lobby in Canada. So my chief source of anything needed would be internet suppliers.Thank goodness for Pixie Faire and Etsy!
I have a hard time finding small embellishments. Recycle as much as possible. Sources are limited in my area so find most must haves online.
I have the hardest time finding a good selection of trims and embellishments that are the proper scale for doll clothes. Plenty of great choices if you are sewing for adults. I need some tips. Thank you very much.

“I have the hardest time finding tiny doll sized prints in fleece for doll coats. Most fleece prints are huge but fleece makes the nicest coats. My favourite thing to buy is the small white plastic snaps that seem to be available only at Fabricland in Canada. The metal ones always cut my thread as I sew theme on, but the white plastic ones are perfect. Keep up the good work, Pixiefaire
I shop for small scale notions at numerous places. Home Sew and Zipper that Doll are great. I am always on the hunt at Hobby Lobby and JoAnns. Sometimes beads work better in small places rather than buttons. I am also looking for small scale prints on fabrics. Sorry that 12 Days of Christmas is over as I have enjoyed participating and reading the bogs. Thank you again Pixie Faire.

I have the hardest time finding “findings” for doll size clothes.
I get most of my supplies from JoAnn’s but do find some doll sized notions on different internet sites. I have the hardest time find plaids that have a small enough pattern for doll clothing.
It’s not that I have a hard time finding things, but if a local store doesn’t have what I need, I really do not want to pay the shipping for one small product. I do like the idea of repurposing clothes, but as I have no girls, I would have to look in a thrift shop, so I guess adventure awaits.
I buy all my doll size zippers at zipper that doll! I am always amazed at how quickly I get them.
I shop for my fabric at Joann and Hobby Lobby and my patterns are from Pixie Faire :)

I shop for anything/everything that is doll size every place I go. I like looking in the scrapbooking supplies also. Flea markets and yard sales are a good place to find old jewelry to use for embellishing. And of course the internet
I have the hardest time finding notions such as zippers, ribbon, trims such as bows and flowers, buckles and sometimes even buttons. Almost everything has to come from online because of almost a 100 mile trip to any of the stores that would carry things I need. ( JoAnn’s, Hobby Lobby, and Home Sew) The only real store that has anything at all is Walmart
I have trouble finding narrow cotton lace, and small embellishments.

I live on an island there are no big stores here. We do have two small quilt stores and a very small Walmart. I find thrift stores to be a great place to find small buttons, buckles, and fabric.
You just have to think outside the box. Look at their clothes, shoes, etc and you’d be surprised what you can find.
I have a hard time finding all doll notions in stores. I usually go on line and do a search. Zipper that doll, etsy, Pixie Faire use to carry them, Home Sew, eBay, and sometimes Amazon are among the sites.
I find some tiny buttons at JoAnn’s, Hobby Lobby, and ribbon at Michaels and A.C. Moore. Fabric and lace at JoAnns and Hobby Lobby. Cinnamon’s resource list has been very helpful, as well. I have a difficult time finding cute knit fabric. Ususally check at Good Will and repurpose kids knit clothes into doll outfits.
My only local store is Joann’s. I use the thrift stores and repurpose clothing from beautiful fabrics. Doll notions are usually an online search.
I shop for doll supplies? I haven’t started yet. I am just getting started on this journey!
I have the hardest time finding small zippers. I shop for my sewing supplies at JoAnn’s, Hobby Lobby, Micheal’s, Walmart and anywhere else that has sewing supplies. There are never enough places to look. Sometimes I shop online, but my problem is that I want to look at and handle things before I buy!
I have a hard time finding doll size buckles. I buy some notions from Home Sew.
I have the hardest time finding zippers and thin Velcro for my doll stuff. Use a lot of snaps or buttons for closures.
I have the hardest time finding the small zippers and buckles quickly
I have the hardest time finding doll sized zippers. I prefer to buy in my local stores and they’re not geared to doll size!
I shop for fabric and sewing supplies everywhere — online, at local shops, and anywhere I happen to be traveling.
I have the hardest time finding zippers for doll clothes, whether it be closed end or separating.
I have the hardest time finding Rick rack, buttons and narrow Velcro for doll clothes. It is so fun to embellish every item. My creativity is enhanced with better notions!
I have a hard time finding small zippers and I love the Velcro I have purchased from Pixie Faire. Finding notions in the colors needed is probably the biggest challenge. I have found hangers on Amazon for doll clothes. I appreciate the list. I have purchased children’s clothing and cut it down to fit my granddaughters dolls. Thanks for the great resources, ideas and suggestions!!!
I shop for basically all my sewing needs at hobby lobby.
“I shop for doll notions at local hobby and fabric stores as well as searching online. Being new to this craft, it’s been a challenge to find attractive and affordable items suitable for small creations. I’ve not used small zippers yet and look forward to trying them in future projects. Thank you for this opportunity.
I shop for doll clothes notions at thrift stores. For example, I have found dog collars to use as belts or just take off the buckles and use them as needed. When I need knit fabric and matching ribbing I will look for “new” t-shirts.
I shop for doll patterns at pixiefaire.com.
Like many others, I shop at Hobby Lobby and Joann fabrics.
I shop for fabric and notions at my local fabric, craft and hardware stores and when I travel. If I keep an open mind, I can turn little hardware items into embellishments.
I shop for zippers at zipperstop. Nice quality zippers for low price. Also find small buttons and Joann’s.
“I shop for fabric, notions, and zipper at Vogue Fabric and Pixie Faire.
I shop my remnant box for fabric. Because I usually buy extra for sewing projects, my supply of fabric for doll clothing is almost endless.
I have the hardest time finding good doll hook and loop tape; most is too “heavy” for doll clothes.
I shop for doll notions at various places, zippers at Zipit and WAWAK, buttons on eBay, and assorted items at a great store in Vancouver, BC called Dressew – unfortunately they do not have on line sales but they do have buckles!
I always have a hard time finding doll safe Velcro ?.
“I shop for fabric for doll clothes at a local surplus store (Marden’s) and WalMart. Most of my other supplies I find online at Pixie Faire, Etsy, Home Sew, etc. We are a small city on the bordered by Canada and the St. Croix river which feeds into the Atlantic Ocean. We don’t have many options for shopping here. The closest mall, JoAnns, etc is 90 miles away so the internet is a boon.
I get supplies from Home Sew but since I live in Canada, the cost is a lot more. I would like to find a source for those sparkly sliders that you put on a belt or a sash at the waistline. I am hoping that Pixie Faire can compile a list of places where we can order supplies like sliders. Thank You Pixie Faire for the suppliers that you posted in the e-mail today!
I used to shop at Fabric stores only, but over the last couple of years, I have started to use the internet for 95% of my sewing needs. I have an extensive stash and rarely need to purchase fabric, plus my daughter also supplies me with beautiful clothing to upcycle ;)
I have the hardest time finding doll size buckles. Don’t need them that often, but when I do—it’s very hard to find any in the appropriate size.
Aside from the obvious sources like Joann’s and Hobby Lobby, I shop on eBay and Etsy for fabrics and trims. I also like to peruse booths at antique malls for vintage finds. I look at the item to see if the trim is hand stitched on and easily removable. I’d have a hard time finding really lovely doll-scale laces and trims without these resources. And oftentimes I only need a small piece of a special fabric. I also consider the fabric and notions of any garment I’m going to get rid of. It’s amazing what you might find in your own closet when you look at an item with fresh eyes.
I have the hardest time finding embellishments that are small enough for the clothes, especially zippers! I have a “stash” that includes lace and buttons small enough. I sometimes use Velcro in place of zippers
I have the hardest time getting my daughters to pick up all their doll accessories and put them back in the bin. They have so much fun playing with their dolls, I love the creative stories they come up with.
Where I live finding any doll-sized notions is extremely difficult!
I shop for doll sized notions at a couple of antique stores in a nearby town. Often find the tiny buttons and narrow tape. One vendor also often has fat quarters at a price less than the usual quilt shops – not always the best choice of colour. But I also check out the Salvation Army and other thrift stores – sometimes you can find a treasure trove.
I have the hardest time finding narrow doll velcro, locally. I’m sure I could find it online, but would prefer to have a local source.

have the hardest time finding the tiny buckles to use in doll clothes and doll belts. When I do find them I buy a bunch so they’ll last awhile.
