Have fun and enjoy what you are doing. I swe doll clothes for girls who can’t afford to go to American girl.

I still sew on my 1940 Kenmore which was handed down to me at the age of 10. Ole ‘Betsy’can’t do the new tricks but she is a real dependable workhorse and we continue to do a lot of volunteer work together. When sewing for my granddaughters’ dolls it can get tricky with those small fancy fabric pieces. When sewing the sequin fabric seams, I will sometimes place wax paper over the seam when sewing to help prevent sticking on the needle. For special fabrics, slippery fabrics and thick fabrics like velvet that are hard to keep a perfect matched alignment when sewing the seams (especially those small pieces), I first hand baste them. Most of my success is attributed to my dear sewing machine and my 1967 Home Ec teacher who insisted on taking the time to do things right and with care.

My favorite sewing tip is to take a deep breath and remember to enjoy the process.

Deb Cote

My favorite sewing tip is to use a bodice lining when sewing for dolls, because otherwise necklines are too difficult.

Beth

My favorite sewing tip is to sew French Seams as it makes the dress look so much nicer and professional.
