My favorite era of clothing and fashion is the 1920’s. After WW1 the women’s right movement had a strong influence on women’s fashion. Women’s role in society changed, and they entered the workforce. In doing so the clothing fashion needed to suit thier needs. The straight-line chemise and cloche hat, my favorite, was the dress of the day. Low waisted dresses with fullness at the hemline, which was one inch above the knee. The corset was discarded and the camisole and bloomers were in, which allowed more free movement for women to jazz dance. This to me was the start of great change and the fabulous appearance of freedom with clothing. I’d love to see a patttern for a soft flowing evening gown in this era.

At the risk of being a repeat my favorite era of clothing and fashion would be the 50’s and early 60’s when party dresses had a full skirt and tight waist and day attire was an ensemble. However, young girls today wanting to dress their dolls would probably like a pants ensemble like the one seen in White Christmas where the pantsuit is encircled by a circle skirt open in the front.
