I love current styles and would love to see more dresses and tops.
I love the 1930s. Even as the world wide depression set in, fashion was emerging from the linear lines of the 1920s and becoming softer and more feminine. Designers such as Vionnet, Channel, Schiaparelli were becoming household names and were definitely part of the Hollywood glamour and glitz that made the depression less harsh. The introduction of man made materials made the new designs more affordable and the increased use of the zipper reduced bulk in clothing. Even children’s clothing became more play friendly with tee shirts and jeans becoming the clothing of middle class school children due to durability. Men’s clothing became more relaxed – the wide lapels and collars narrow through the 30s into the “classic” men’s profile of today -even in the colors and fabric patterns! The echos of 1930s designs for both men and women are every where in the “modern” look. The post-war designers such as Dior continued to build on the “new” look that was rudely interrupted by the austerity of WWII. My mom (who married in 1945) used a piece of sparkly pink wool and rayon she had gotten in Chicago for her “wedding suit” – the fabric purchased before war rationing for a Channel coat. After the war, fashion fabric was still very limited for several years, so mom said she was grateful that a Channel design had prompted her to buy the fabric and matching buttons. I only have the buttons today, but that story was an impetus for my historic interest in fashion. I would love to see some Channel, Vionnet, Schiaparelli, and other designers reflected in doll clothes!!!
My favorite era of clothing and fashion is the 1830’s to 1860’s. I’d love to see a pattern for a day dress from 1860 with a full hoop skirt!
My favorite era of clothing and fashion is the late 1800s, because of all of the beautiful ballgowns and formal attire for women. I would love to see some ballgown patterns for my American Girl Dolls! And some cute hat patterns also from that era. :)
My favorite era is the 1930s. I have no specific pattern I’m seeking – just any clothing from that time period.
