I cannot always find small scale prints and plaids, small buttons, zippers, buckles, and clasps. I shop for patterns and fabrics at JoAnns and at local quilt shops, as well as at Pixie Faire.
I like to go to the flea market. I’ll cut up shirts, sweaters, etc. where I find the materials interesting. I’ll use those unique items for my projects.

I shop for patterns at Pixie Faire and Joanne’s. I buy fabric from Joanne’s, Fabricland, and thrift stores! The hardest thing to find is small separating zippers and small buttons.
I have the hardest time finding the small notions or the right colors for the doll outfits I make. I usually use Velcro for closures but can only find white or black. I would love to use a matching color but cannot find them. If I do find them they are usually not matching correctly. Also find it hard to find the small accessories like buckles and zippers.

I have found items like small buttons, zippers, and already made items for 18" dolls at a company called Home Sew.
I shop for all my eyelets with a small family business started in 2001. This business is ran by an ex-military family in Greenland, NH and they have a great selection of eyelets for all the boots I make from the patterns bought from Pixie Faire.
Sewers are looking for narrower hook & loop – I measure length or a little longer on normal width hook and loop, cut, then, cut in half vertically. Two for the price of one. Works for me, although, I really would like it to be much softer.

I too have a hard time finding material with the smaller prints that would look great on the dolls, especially the wellies. I live in a rural area and do a lot of my fabric shopping at the local Goodwill and Beverlys. Whenever I’m near a Joann’s fabric I usually stop. I notice some of you have a hard time finding zippers, Zipper that Doll is good place to find that and also I just discovered Home Sew. Looks like there would be cute notions and buttons in there.
