I sew as a hobby. I started sewing my own doll clothes as a girl who loved playing with all types of dolls. Then when my own daughters were old enough to have American Girl dolls I started making their clothes to save on costs. I work full time as a nurse so I don’t have much time now plus my girls are grown but I still enjoy looking up patterns and dreaming up costumes for the dolls who are still waiting for new wardrobes.

I sew and knit as a hobby. I made my first 18” doll clothes for my granddaughter when COVID started to have something to do and discovered I loved sewing this size doll clothes. She loves everything I make. As a Christmas project I bought an Our Generation doll and made her five new outfits and donated to Salvation Army for a girl in need. Had my granddaughter pick out the doll so she learned about helping others less fortunate then her. I will continue this next year.

I use to have an in home sewing studio, doing alterations, costumes, fancy dresses, etc. Now I only take on jobs for friends and family that sound challenging or fun. My passion seems to be collecting patterns and fabric to make doll clothes and imagining the colors and trims, etc., but never actually getting doll clothes made. I am a very slow sewist and it seems that something always goes wrong. The"fifteen minute" mask patterns that I tried sewing in the spring and summer generally took me a minimum of three hours. I still enjoy viewing the Sewing with Cinnamon classes and signed up for the pattern academy over a year ago. Someday, I hope to accomplish more.

Yes sewing is one of my passions!! I love to sew, craft and quilt a large variety of items for family and friends. I have also volunteered in the wardrobe departments of local theatre companies and High School, College and University Theatre Arts programs where I have designed and sewn different styles of costumes for many stage productions. I truly enjoy the creative process and find tackling many styles of projects both challenging and relaxing. Depending on the season/time of year and the project I spend approx 3 – 40 hrs a week indulging and having fun!

My hobbies are many and include hand embroidery of various types; sewing; smocking; heirloom sewing; collecting and studying lace; making doll clothes, shoes, accessories and “food”; calligraphy; scrapbooking and paper crafts; gardening and genealogy.
I rotate between hobbies as I tackle projects. My sewing/craft room is overflowing with supplies, as you can imagine. So I’ve spent a good deal of my COVID sequestration time sorting, organizing and trying to make it fit.
I keep finding little treasures that the sewing room fairies have left for me.
Really looking forward to more actual project time when I can easily access everything.

I mostly sew doll clothes for girls on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota via a FB group called Sew For Kids. Second to doll clothes, I sew baby and children’s items and occasionally little Christmas and birthday gifts. I have never sold my doll clothes or anything else. I only sew a few hours a week as that is all the time I can allow for it. I would love to win this gift and buy some doll shoes on Etsy shoppes to compliment my doll clothes!
