I see a a hobby and for a new business and I see about 20 hours a week.
I sew primarily as a hobby; on average, I spend nowhere near enough time per week to maintain sanity (lol, 20-40+hrs /wk would be nice)! Here’s hoping to a saner 2021 with more stitch time!!
I sew primarily for my business. I sew at least 40 hours a week. I have an Etsy shop karenscornerdollshop.
I sew primarily as a hobby, making gifts, and also for local craft shows. I do have “regular” customers who request special outfits for the 18" and Bitty Baby dolls. I also repair/restore vintage and 18" dolls for friends and make clothing for the dolls when done with the repairs. This sometimes means making my own patterns. My great nieces are always anxious to receive new outfits for their 18" dolls for birthdays and Christmas. This year all three of them received memory bears made from clothing from family members, and themed fabric that represents something special about each of them. The two older girls literally have a trunk full of doll clothes that I have made for them. On average I spend 10-15 hours a week sewing in the evening and on weekends.
I sew primarily as a hobby for doll items & to mend items as needed. I only spend about 30’ a week at it, at most— wish I had time to do more!
