My biggest sewing challenge would be making something that manages to come out looking like what I had in mind. Being a bit of a perfectionist, I tend to struggle being content with anything I make unless it’s up to my expectations.

My biggest challenge is the new sewing machines!!! They (both the serger and regular machine) have a larger footprint from the pressure foot to sewing area. It is much more difficult to sew smaller things now. In fact I really question why the manufactures think the only thing we home sewers sew is quilts! Also, the small trims, laces, eyelets, and buttons are not as small, varied and cute as they were a few years ago, nor as easily found. The Pixie Paks are a great find, but the buttons are all cookie cutter look alikes.

I would have to say my biggest challenge has come since becoming disabled. My sewing room and supplies are upstairs and I am unable to climb the stairs. Trying to make my husband understand what I want him to bring down for me can be complicated I only ask for supplies for things that I really feel I want to make.

My eyes are old and tired, and for sewing I MUST have a LOT of light…led overhead shop light, magnifying led lamp, etc. etc…the more the better. Natural outdoor sunlight is the best sewing supply I could want, but can’t bring it indoors, so mostly depend on those artificial appliances!

I’ve found that I need to “ make” time to sew a priority as “ finding” the time is never going to happen for me . I get my motivation from the Inspirational images on Pixie Faire and the pattern reviews . it’s amazing the outfits are so different looking even though they are sewn with the same pattern.

My biggest sewing challenge when sewing doll clothes is manipulating the fabric under the pressure foot. I’ve tried coffee filters, tweezers and a sewing awl so my machines doesn’t eat the fabric.
