Get to know Shari Fuller... Shari has two pattern collections on Pixie Faire, Thimbles and Acorns, her original brand - and after years of collaborating with designer Eve Coleman on the Keepers Dolly Duds Designs brand, Shari is now the owner of that brand too. Each brand brings a unique look to historical designs in a beautifully detailed way.
More About Shari (in her own words): My grandma gave me my first sewing lesson when I was about eight years old. I had been fascinated with her sewing for as long as I could remember and was so excited when she gave me a doll pattern and sent me to her sewing closet to pick out just the right fabric for my first project. Sewing was a way for me to connect with my grandma, and although she may not have realized it at the time, this gift she gave me helped me become a better student. History became more exciting as I became captivated by the dynamic fashions through the ages. This is what Thimbles and Acorns is all about; building relationships and encouraging learning. In November of 2011, I wrote my first pattern. Eve was the first one to take me up on the offer to test it. We quickly struck up a friendship and before long we were collaborating in our pattern making journey. Working with Eve these past seven years has been a privilege and a delight and I am honored to be able to bring Keepers Dolly Duds Designs to Pixie Faire!
Inquiring Minds Want To Know...
Q: What's your favorite food?
Shari: Just about every day I like to have a Granny Smith Apple with peanut butter and chocolate chips... It's the ultimate one-dish meal. The peanut butter and apple make a great healthy lunch (it's homemade peanut butter by the way) and the chocolate chips are a built in dessert. My absolute favorite food is homemade pizza... because it is pure romance. My husband and I have been making it every Friday since we started dating... 34 years ago! It's become a Fuller Family tradition.
Q: What's your favorite tv show or movie?
Shari: Return to Me. My husband and I tend to sing through the whole movie because it has great background music and the story brings out the romance.
Q: Coffee or Tea??
Shari: Water... I drink a lot of water. Hot water in my favorite mug in the winter helps keep me warm and cold water in my favorite water bottle keeps me refreshed in the summer.
Q: Where's your favorite place to shop?
Shari: Walmart, it's convenient (because I'm not particularly fond of shopping) AND my daughter works there so most everyone there knows me as "Jackie's Mom"... and treat me like a celebrity.
Q: What inspired your brand name?
Shari: Thimbles and Acorns was inspired by my daughter who became infatuated with the story of Peter Pan when she was three years old. The thimble and acorn were the "kisses" that Peter and Wendy exchanged.
Q: What is your dream vacation?
Shari: A tour of Israel and Egypt.
We'd love to hear from you. Leave a comment and tell us - which look is best! And be sure to thank Shari for giving away such a cute outfit!
Thanks everyone,
The Pixie Faire Team
I like the modern dress I need more outfits for the smaller doll the ww
First time I have thought of the WellieWishers as historical. I think the modern version looks best this time.
I am always excited to see the smaller doll patterns. Both look adorable but the modern outfit is my choice today.
I was so keen to give my answer that I didn’t thank Shari. So thank you so much to Shari and all the other designers who bring us great patterns every week.
I prefer the modern dress – I love bright colours and it looks great on the beautiful doll.
I voted for the modern look, only because I think it would look best on my doll! Great work Shari.
Thank you Shari for designing these great outfits! I love the prairie girl dress & think that it can be modified for more modern designs. A win-win ! Wonderful inside info about Shari. Thank you for great work and an opportunity to win.
Honestly, I love both outfits equally – Thimbles & Acorns outfits are always so fantastic looking! Normally I’d vote for the historic option, but I loved the fabric in the modern dress so much that it swayed my vote! So fun seeing the amazing photos of the beautiful dresses!
I love both outfits! I barely have any outfits for my two Wellie Wishers so this is wonderful. The modern day one got my vote but I love them both! Thank you!
I love both of these patterns!!
I like the prairie girl best – and i love the ‘What inspired your brand name’ story!! Now I’m gonna have to watch Peter Pan again – Haven’t seen it since my kids were little and don’t remember all of it!!
I loved reading Shari’s answers! I had no idea that Thimbles and Acorns was inspired by Peter Pan—that delights me! And I prefer the historical, Prairie Girl outfit :)
The blue dress reminds me of Cinderella and her sinister step-mother. The modern dress, which is my first choice, reminds me of a little girl’s first day of school.
My girls think our Wellies would look best in the modern school girl outfit, especially since the OG doll school made its way into our home this Christmas! Thanks for the great patterns😊
My favorite was the modern dress, but my daughters both voted for Prairie Rose, so Prairie Rose it is. They’re both adorable. I love those orange shoes!
I love both looks, it was so hard to choose 😂 Thanks a lot! I so need this pattern.
Thanks for the cute outfits, I voted historical, so cute!
for me, historical prairie girl outfit
I prefer the historical dress.
I love the prairie girl outfit and the apron can be shortened and used on other dresses.
Thanks, Shari, for the darling outfits. My vote is for the historical outfit. It is a beautiful reminder of another era that was tough but simpler.
Both are so darling! Great pattern. I chose the modern school girl.
I prefer the modern “School Girl” dress, but both are truly amazing! Thank you, Shari, for sharing your talents with all us doll lovers of all genres!
School girl!
I prefer The Historical “Prairie Girl” Outfit. It looks so authentic.
I think that the School Girl dress looks the best.
They both are so cute, but I like prairie girl best.😊
I think that the School Girl dress looks the best.
Both dresses are really pretty. My favorite is the historical Prairie Girl dress.
They are both wonderful. I love the historical the best though.
love them both but I like the colors on the modern one best
Thanks so much for the chance to win these darling outfits. I have been collecting small print calicoes for some time and I can’t wait to get into making Prairie -style clothing for my dolls.
I love the prairie girl outfit. Thank you so much.
Thank you Shari for designing these great outfits! I love the prairie girl dress and but, the school girl is also super cute!
Love the Prairie girl outfit.
both are really cute
I like the Prairie dress better..Thank you Shari!
Thank you, Shari, for giving away such a cute outfit! I love your historical designs so I voted for the Prairie Girl outfit, but both dresses are very sweet.
As a child of the 50’s, I loved the Laura Ingalls Wilder books. So I am partial to the Prarie Girl look.
They are both really beautiful, but like more the Prairie girl. Love historic outfits. Thanks for sharing
Hands down for the school girl outfit! I’m not a fan of aprons
Both are adorable but I choose the modern school dress!
I love both!!! It was a hard choice but I chose the prairie dress. Thank you so much for the chance to vote!!
Both are wonderful, but the Prairie Dress wins for uniqueness.
Love that little redhead! The blue calico is perfect on her!
They are both nice, and I think it is just the colors on the modern one that jumps out at me.
Thank you, Shari for these lovely dresses. Somehow the more modern “school girl” version pleases my eye.
Both are really cute, but I like the modern dress the best.
Loving the school girl dress
Although I am a Prairie Girl kind of person, I think the Modern School Girl dress suits the Wellie Wishers best! Thank you for the cute pattern.
Such cute little outfits. Love historical themed clothes on dolls!
I love the Prairie school dress. I like to read stories during this time period and I love the simplicity of the dresses but always so beautiful.
I like the Prairie Girl the best . Thank you very much. They are both lovely.
Both are adorable, but the print of the prairie dress and the cross-stitch detail wins my vote. (where can I find those knitting needles, lol?)
I like the modern one better.
I like them both but the embroidery on the apron pockets swayed me to the old fashioned version.
Love the modern style dress! So pretty!
Thank you ,Shari for the give-away! I like the “Prairie Girl” outfit best but both are great!
I voted for the modern style! But I think both dresses are adorable!
Love the Prairie dress best – even though both looks are so cute! The stories that are possible around the Prairie outfit make playtime fun and lively.
I’m so glad you are doing this. I made the Summer in Blue dress two different ways for two different dolls: Cecile and Marie Grace. And I’m not sure which one is better on which doll … with that question in mind, I thought that it would be a good comparison question on Pixie Faire. So, I am so glad you are doing this . . . Oh, I choose the Prairie look. ;-)
The patterns are very nice and cute enough. If you ever feel like making one full size, I am 5foot 1/2 and about 95 pounds. He! He! You are talented. Thank you for making the doll patterns. I like the old fashioned and historical things. They are very interesting to me.
Love love love the modern style!
It is a very close contest, both are quite cute! I like the prairie outfit best, though the color of the modern is perfect!
The school dress is adorable. Love all your Wellie Wisher patterns.
This one was a difficult choice since they are both adorable! But if I have to choose, I go with the School Dress. Thank you for the wonderful WellieWishers patterns and all your other beautiful patterns!
I LIKE THE SCHOOLGIRL ONE BEST. THANK YOU!!
Historical one.
I like the Praire School dress, it’s unique and the minute you see it you think of simplicity
Thanks Sheri for the outfits. I like both dresses, but I vote for the modern school dress.
They are both very cute. But, I like the modern school dress the best.
Thank you Shari for offering these two adorable dresses. I vote for the modern school doll dress. I enjoy sewing for the 18" doll and would like sometime to try hand at the Wellie Wishes doll clothes too.
Both outfits are special, but I especially love the school girl outfit
I love the historical outfit and cannot wait to make it for the 18" dolls.
I like the school girl!!
Thank you Shari for offering these outfits. I voted for the historical outfit, but I like that both are made for 14.5 inch doll. I got a Heart 4 Heart doll over the Christmas 2018 Holidays, so these would be perfect.
Both dresses are very sweet, but I just love historical patterns! What a lovely giveaway.
The prairie girl is so cute, I love Shari’s paterns.
Love both but the school girl one just a hair more.
They are both gorgeous, but how could they not be from a well designed pattern. I chose the school dress because it has several uses for todays girls. The dress has pleats in the front which dress it up to the point that I would put it on my doll for Easter Sunday. Thank you for the lovely dresses that you have shared with us.
I voted for Prairie girl, thanks Shari!
I love the prairie girl. Both patterns are great. Thank you.
Thank you Shari! Both dresses are so adorable and its a hard decision, but I’m going with Prairie Girl (historical). Beautiful job on both!
I love Shari’s creative mind when it comes to doll clothes. You can’t go wrong with any or her patterns that I have tried so far. I also want to say I love the new changes Pixie Faire is making in their contests! And in their “free” patterns.
I love the historical dress.
Thank you shari! I really love the pink outfit.
My daughter loves historical doll outfits. We have been collecting a lot of them lately and the blue dress set would compliment her collection quite nicely!!
Both looks are wonderful. The Modern School girl look edges out the Prairie girl in part because the fabric color selected suits Kendall perfectly.
So I checked with my 8 year old granddaughter and she said please don’t make me choose as I would love both… they are just to cute to only pick one… we love them both. Awesome outfits.
I like the “Modern School Girl.” It might be because of the bright floral print, but I like it.
The school dress reminds me when I was a schoolgiirl. so it is a good choice for me
I love historical outfits so I voted for that one. The fabric on the modern dress is so pretty so it was a really hard choice.
Thank you Shari for offering these beautiful dresses. I like the prairie girl one.
Interesting. Looking at the two dresses side by side, I like the Prairie Girl dress the best, but seeing them on a ‘model’, I like the School Girl outfit better. Mark me “Undecided”.
I really like the modern school girl outfit; I love how bright and colorful it is.
Thanks Shari for the outfits. My vote is for the modern school dress
I like the modern school girl better
Wow, it was really hard to choose – they’re both really cute outfits. I went with the pink but I sincerely love them both. Thank you Shari for your generosity and the opportunity to win these adorable outfits.
I wish this designer would create patterns for larger dolls like patty playpal. We have larger dolls that need clothing like this too.
