Hi Everyone! This April marks 2 years since the launch of Sewing With Cinnamon - Crazy, how time flies! I just wanted to take some time to thank you all for being a part of this community! It is only possible because you are here :)
I'd love to recap and review a bit - is that ok? I thought what better way to move forward into year 3 than to get your feedback and ask you what you think!
I created a survey and would love to have you take some time to go through it and answer the questions. Some are multiple choice, some are open text. Please be honest - I'm prepared to hear the worst, but honestly hoping for the best, haha!
I'd love to know you better, where you're at as a seamstress, what courses you've liked and learned from, what struggles you have, and how to make this community even better!
Please click this link to go to the survey:

Then come back here (or once you're finished) and post in the comments below that you've completed it.
Or if this is viewable below, Fill out the survey right here (this might not be viewable by all internet browsers) Be sure to scroll through all the questions below, once you get through all the questions, click "finish the survey" at the bottom:
SWC Updates
We have a lot of great things planned for this coming year! April is a month with 5 Tuesdays, so we will kick things off next week, the 9th, with our new topic - Sewing Seam Finishes (with a sew along for the Mindil Beach Dress). We will look at a variety of ways to finish your seams using a standard sewing machine. You don't really need any special tools for this topic (although the dress has eyelets, so a crop-odile would be good to have). That's the beauty of it! You will want to have lightweight cotton fabric, sharp scissors, a good iron, pressing board or mat, and a little bit of patience!
Coming soon after, we will have these topics:
Big News!
I'm also excited to announce that I have been in conversation with Babylock and will be working with them as an influencer for their machines! Yay! So, I'm happy to announce that after all these years of not using a serger for my work - they have worked their magic, shown me the possibilities of the Babylock Sergers and I will be going to their headquarters in June to get some hands-on training! Then I will be practicing on the new machines over the summer and in September, we will have a Sewing With A Serger at the Smaller Scale!
Isn't that exciting!
Done.
Survey completed
I am brand new so couldn’t offer much, but I have completed the survey.
Done! Was interesting. Congrats! SWC on 2 years….YA!!!!!
Sort of finished survey. Haven’t done courses as have been designing and building a house pretty much since courses started. Looking forward to doing the courses at some point.
Thank you Cinnamon for creating the survey as it will only provide you with further information on how to better the classes or create new areas of focus. I am excited looking forward to this next year and a class on sergers. I have the babylock Imagine and love it.
I have completed the survey. thank you Cinnamon for coming towards us and take care of what we may have to say… We’ll we have any keynote (ahah) about it ? Looking forward for next step ! Happy third year !!! Sissi
I am glad I could share all my positive thoughts about the SWC.
So excited to see you’ll be offering courses on using a serger. I have mastered threading mine, but have only begun to learn everything I can do with it. Right now, I just finish seams with the cutting tool in place, but I know there’s more!
I finished the survey. I found ranking the courses difficult. For me, I valued the ones that contained the most NEW information more than others that I really enjoyed more, but ‘learned’ less. Even the class at the bottom was valuable and enjoyable, just not as exciting to me! Thanks for all you and your team do to make SWC fun and informative!

Finished. I have a Babylock serger and am excited for the serger training!
Finished the survey (just saw it today). And I just pulled out my serger yesterday for the first time in a few years! It will be interesting to see how you make it work at the doll scale. I have used it on doll clothing years ago but didn’t really like how it looked.
Completed the Survey.
I have completed the survey. I hope to be more productive this time around with SWC.
Completed!
Unfortunately, I haven’t been able to access the survey – probably due to a VERY slow internet connection. Not home right now and have a much better connection there.
I LOVE all the things you’ve done. I’ve learned a lot from the different classes even though I’ve been sewing for 60 years. I haven’t been able to utilize everything due to only having 24 hours in my day and I have many other things to do as well.
I’m SO happy to be a part of this group and I think the upcoming topics will be just as interesting. I’m looking forward to an awesome “Year 3”.
Thank you, Cinnamon, for all you do!
I have learned a lot through your involvement and appreciate all the support you supply! I have finished the survey…

Finished the survey and thought the questions were spot on. Thanks for the opportunity to be a member of the comminity.
Accidentally hit enter before all questions answered and not allowed to go back and compete. Have enjoyed the classes over the past 2 years.
Finished the survey. Love the opportunity to give input. Thank you for an awesome website.
Last two years have been great. Looking forward to the one. Just found an 18" doll sewing buddy. I’m introducing her to PixieFaire. She’s excited with all you offer. Thanks again.
I finished the survey.
I finished the survey.
Thank you I have completed the survey….. thank you
Thank you for including the upcoming classes. I am really looking forward to this and the new several months. I may also have to break down and get a serger. I’ve never had one. Great survey, too.

I’ve honestly been slacking. I started organizing then got overwhelmed. I need to download the videos and watch at a slow pace. But I’m the plus sife, between all the great designers and the manuals for my machine I really am learning. I used to think I’m a confident intermediate but have felt more like a beginner. Everyone does such great work. Thank you Cinnamon for your classes and for being such a down to earth teacher.

One last question: Will you post what you have covered somewhere??
I wanted to create a list but couldn’t get back in because I had finished the survey.
A list of topics covered would be extremely helpful.
Thank you!
Finished the survey and thought your questions were very insightful and they caused me to reflect.
I liked that you included the upcoming topics; always nice to know what will be coming.
I have a Babylock serger Model: Imagine and LOVE IT! In fact I was really surprised when you didn’t use one. Life (and designing) will be easier for you. I can’t imagine being without mine!
Keep up the GREAT work! I look forward to your topics and you are an incredible teacher.
Thanks for all you do in behalf of doll clothing seamstresses nationwide.
I finished the survey and thanks for allowing us to provide feedback. Also, having a list of the upcoming topics is very helpful.
Done!
I didn’t add this to my survey earlier, but reading through your blog now and seeing that you will be doing a serger course, would be awesome. Sometimes the big presser foot on a serger just doesn’t play nice when it comes to small items and then your overlocking stitches look uneven and unprofessional. I set mine to the narrowest I can, but I am still limited, so end up finishing seams with pinkiing shears, to keep things tidy.
Just joined today. I am 72 years olds and made my first dress when I was 12, using my great grandmother’s pedal Singer machine. I’ve read through some of your materials and there’s still a lot to learn. You have some new techniques that will make some things a little easier now. There’s always something new to learn. You are going to love the serger, I’be been using them since they’ve been on the market. Wish I could play with some of the one’s out not. Mines a MyLock 634D.
Survey complete. Congrats on the serger training. Thanks for the classes.
OK, every extra penny is going into savings right now. Perhaps I will have enough to spring for a serger after viewing your class. I don’t suppose they would like to offer your members a discount??? Didn’t think so—just kidding!
Thanks Cinnamon for the great classes you offer, and for the encouragement you give to us who enjoy sewing doll clothes. I am looking forward to another fun and informative year of Sewing with Cinnamon.
All done. You had some good questions!
I did survey but when I clicked on finished nothing happened. Is there going to be a code for are free pattern soon?
Thank you Cinnamon and Pixie Faire for hosting the SWC classes. Can’t wait to get started next week. Oh yeah, I finished the survey!

Finished the survey and then I read you’re starting to learn how to use a serger!!! I’m so excited because I am too!!! My aunt was gifted a Bernina 1200DA and she’s been using it ever since! And now I get to learn & borrow it for a week while she’s on vaction! At first I wanted to see if I really truly needed to buy a serger and now I know for sure – YES!!! The topic or tips I’d love to learn about the serger is how the heck do you sew the sleeve on to the armsicle of the bodice???!!! Holy moly I destroyed 3 sleeves and bodices today trying to figure it out. Another topic/tip for attaching the band around the waist, wrist & neckline too. Good Luck with learning to serge and can’t wait for this years topics! They’ve been fantastic so far! :)
I completed the survey. Thanks for the opportunity to share my opinions with you. Love all the topics that you cover throughout the year and really looking forward to the upcoming serger class in September. (I bought mine over a year ago and it’s currently
still in the box, lol!)
Survey complete. Love SWC and I thank you so much Cinnamon for making it possible. I haven’t done many of the classes yet but have read them all and watched the videos, just haven’t put it into practice yet. Sewing time is currently very limited but watch out when I retire!!
Thanks for offering the survey! I’ve enjoyed the past two years of SWC and look forward to the next courses. They sound very interesting.
I completed the survey. The upcoming classes look awesome. And your serger news is exciting. Maybe you can convince me why I need one too 🤔

Survey is complete!
I am not sure if my survey was complete when submitted, hope what did get filled helps :)
I love doing surveys!….Have totally enjoyed all the wonderful lessons that SWC have offered. (started two years ago). Looking forward to the coming months too. it is great to get an idea of what is coming. Thank you to Cinnamon and team for all the work you do, to bring such high standard of work, for us to enjoy. I have learned a great deal. and I have been sewing for 52 years. (started when I was about 8) I joined the classes to increase and improve my skill levels…and I have done just that!!!…..Thank you xx
I finished the survey. I don’t have as much time to sew as I’d like, but I enjoy all the tips and tricks. It’s fun to see what others are making and learning from the group
The survey was finished with me before I was finished with it. When I entered the brand serger I use, survey completed. So I missed part of it. I have sewn for 55+ years. I have made lots of different things using lots of different techniques but I still learn new ways to do things every week when I read or watch that week’s topic. I really enjoyed the Pattern Hacks class. Thanks!
Thank you for the opportunity to give feedback. I’m looking forward this year’s topics. I really enjoy sewing for dolls and most importantly sharing the clothes with my young girl friends.
Finished survey. I hope it got through OK as it told me I was finished before I was at one point.
Finished the survey! So excited about April’s topic just ordered a crop-odile last week & all I have done is just look at it! Perfect timing!
Finished the survey!
I finished the survey. Looking forward to future courses & glad to have downloaded previous classes so I can review challenging topics! Thank you, Cinnamon & Pixie Faire.
I found the rest of the survey today. Finished it
Finished survey, looking forward to next classes.
Finished! Excited at the possibility of actually learning how to use my serger when sewing for dolls!
Finished. So glad you gave us a list of upcoming topics, hope that continues. Looking forward to the serger class because I don’t use mine as much as I would like to.
Finished! Looking forward to interesting sounding upcoming classes! Cinnamon Miles is getting a serger. Wait…whaaaaat? You are going to LOVE it! Well, maybe you will hate it a time or two, but then you will LOVE it!
I completed the survey. I cant wait for the swimsuit classes and the couture techniques.
Finished the survey
Love the classes
I’m done—-despite my phone! 😁 Can’t wait for some tips on serging tiny seams! Just like to say that I’m thankful for the tone of this community. Even when I don’t have time for sewing doll clothes, y’all are good company! 😘
Completed and thank you!
Completed the survey and am looking forward to the upcoming topics!
Completed Survey!
Started the Survey it only let me get to the question where I put in the name of my serger then I got a message saying thanks for taking the survey.

Done. I wish you were doing the swimsuit fabrics class in May instead. I am making a pair of OG dolls dressed in the retro Martian costume for a prize for my local public library’s summer reading program. Their theme is something to do with space.I am looking forward to the upcoming topics.
Finished the Survey – don’t know how fair my alignment of the classes would be due to the fact that I’ve only finished a couple of them in the 2 years i’ve been here So much to do and so little time but I do watch the lessons every week and have found the information applicable to the sewing I’m currently doing on my grandchildren’s clothes!
Finished survey

I finished the survey. it wouldn’t let me drag & drop to rearrange the order of classes, so I numbered them. Just now sure it stuck when I submitted it.
The upcoming classes look great. TYSM for the SWC fun!
Finished the survey and still very happy to be a part of Pixie Faire
I have completed the survey. The upcoming topics look great. I have been sewing for over 50 years and just discovered the American Girl dolls last year. I bought my 3 granddaughters dolls and one for myself! I am having a lot of fun sewing the doll clothes and really enjoy the sewing club and learning new techniques.
Survey finished, your a great teacher!
Finished the survey!

This has been such a great experience for me. I line all my doll clothes now, learned to take time and have the joy of creating complete wardrobes and giving them away for raising funds for worthy causes by auctions. I am blessed to have you and all the ladies input. Often asked to sell them and that’s because of all I have learned. Buttonholes are still a problem, mostly scared, however, I zip at zippers now! Joyful noise unto the Lord…that’s my sewing machines!!!!!
Finished the survey. I have learnt so much in the two years worth of classes and am looking forward to all the lovely topics planned for this year. I have so many Liberty Jane patterns and other Pixie Faire patterns that I am totally spoilt for choice. Love it, so do my customers!
Began the survey but then I hit the enter button by mistake. I was kicked out of the survey and could not get back in.
I consider myself an experience sewer but I still learn something new during every month.
Thanks!
