Designed to fit the American Girl® and other 18” dolls, this versatile PDF knitting cardigan pattern comes with two sleeve variations. It is knit all in one piece, from the top down. There are NO side seams; in fact, the only seams needed are on the underarm of the raglan sleeves. It has a special “fast and easy” eyelet cable that does NOT require a cable needle. The sweater closes in front with buttons and has a Garter Stitch band at the hem. It can be made with or without the collar, which is worked in a seed stitch. The cable makes a wonderful detail all on it’s own or you can embellish it with embroidery and bead-work for a three dimensional effect.
The cardigan can be knitted with either a #3 or #4 weight yarn. Either will work as long as your gauge is 5 stitches/inch.
-Light worsted yarn, (approximately 100 yards)
-Size 6 or 8 US circular knitting needles or size to give a gauge of 5 stitches=1”
-Large tapestry needle for weaving in ends
-Embroider floss, seed beads (optional)
-Three or four 1/2” buttons
-4 Stitch holders
-4 Stitch markers
-1 Row counter
-GAUGE: 5 stitches=1”
Skill Level: Easy Intermediate

I love this pattern. This is my second Crabapples knitting pattern. This little cardigan went together so fast and what a darling result. I even designed a beret to go with it. Hopefully, I'll have photos to post as well. Super easy instructions and I learned a new technique for doing cables. Thanks again.
I think I made most of Bonnie's patterns. I love the way she writes her patterns. My knitting has improved tremendously since I began using crabapple patterns. Beautiful sweater a perfect fit. Thanks
I love to knit so this hit the spot. I had to make three more for my Granddaughters friends. Fun to knit, makes up quietly. Use your yarn collection for a color you like best and get started. Knitting is great way to spend a cold Vermont winter evening.
Love that project. I am not finished with it but coming along well. The tutorial is great.
