Boy Dolls: An Overview
For years doll fans were making their own boy dolls by replacing the wigs on their American Girl® dolls, always wondering why they couldn’t just purchase a boy doll to complete their collection. A few years back, boy dolls started to become more popular as manufacturers such as American Girl® and Our Generation® released this new category of doll. If you have ever wondered, “What are all the different types of boy dolls out there?” “Who makes them and where can I buy them?” or “How do they compare to the girl dolls?” hopefully this article will answer those questions.

The Liberty Jane Jeans Bundle for 18-Inch Boy Dolls features step-by-step patterns for making both bootcut and skinny jeans. Upcycle your old jeans to make your doll's wardrobe feel even more authentic, or use your favorite denim fabric to make this awesome wardrobe staple.
Most boy dolls are made by manufacturers by simply changing the face mold and hair of a doll, without any change to the size and shape of the doll body. For this reason, most boy dolls will be the same size as any girl doll from the same brand.
Get the pattern: Here an American Girl® Girl and Boy Doll are both shown wearing the Mercury Flightsuit from the pattern made by Forget Me Not Designs. As you can see by this example, the boy doll and girl doll have the same size and shape body and can wear the same size clothing.
Some designs look great on both boy and girl dolls, like many uniforms and sports clothing. Other patterns have been designed specifically for boy dolls to get that classic masculine styling and fit.

Max is my favourite boy doll even though he is the only one in that size.
I think the boys are adorable! Would love to add one to my collection.
My favorite is Truly Me #75.
I really like My Siblings Doll, Andy. He looks like a real boy.
The boy dolls are so cute. They actually look like little boys not girl dolls with boy hair & clothes
Gabe is my favorite. Blond curly hair..
Of the boy dolls shown, I think I like Andy the best, although Dylan is a close second! I have my own Andy, made from an Apple Valley kit and an Our Generation boy who is currently obsessed with being a fireman, lol.
Andy is my favorite. I love his long, thick curly hair and those chubby cheeks.
I like the My Life as School Boy doll. I love his hair! It makes me think of a friend I have whose hair looks like that.
My favorite would have to be Logan since he was MY first AG doll. I also love Max, but haven’t been able to purchase yet.
I currently have 10 girl 18in dolls and 1 boy. I have grand-babies that are 5yrs old! (boy/girl) the boys are outnumbered by far! We would welcome another boy doll and we are not picky of brands or size. We love them all
I think the AG Boy dolls are my favorite, although I only own a couple my life ones.
I think the AG Boy dolls are my favorite, although I only own a couple my life ones.

Love Franco as he looks most like my grandson. Dylan looks like my other grandson! Have a bunch of boy clothes already made just waiting for the right doll!

Truly Me #75 is my favorite.
I like the Truly Me #77
Truly Me #75; then Franco.
My favourite is My Sibling Dolls Andy. He looks a bit sassy and a whole lot adventurous.
I love all of the brands. As a mother of 10, 5 girls and 5 boys, I am thrilled to finally have a way to bring the boys into the sewing room giving them a chance to learn an important skill.
All my girls (5) need a brother and it would be great to try my hand at “all boy” clothes
All my girls (5) need a brother and it would be great to try my hand at “all boy” clothes
I think Max is a very beautiful boy doll (A Girl for All Time) but I have an American Girl Bitsy Boy Twin, and he is pretty cute too!
I prefer Gotz Parker please
My favorite boy doll is American Girl’s Logan Everett. After that, I like the My Sibling/My Pal boy dolls, they have really cute faces.
Thanks for the great giveaway! My boy doll needs a buddy.
Thanks for the great giveaway! My boy doll needs a buddy.
I truly would love to have a boy doll – fun to dress and add to my collection. Thank you.
I have had a boy doll ever since I got my first American Girl doll, the original Samantha. It is great to have a variety of clothes to make for him
I like Truly me and Gabe. But Dylan is surely welcome to come spend some time with my girls.
What a great Gotz doll. I have no Gotz girls or any 18 inch boy dolls at all. I would love to win a boy doll. I think Parker and Andy are both lovely boys and I like their stories. Thank you for having the contest and I do wish everyone luck in winning Dylan..

I’m quite fond of the Gotz Parker doll and purchased Henry from who came out @ Pottery Barn Kids before Parker. I got Henry & a girl doll (they’re my twins)! Honestly, love any/all 18-inch dolls, so thanks for this giveaway.
My Sibling has a doll in the My Pal the Patriot set that looks like granddaughter’s dad. that will be our next doll for her.
I like the Truly Me #75 the best of the boy dolls, probably because of the familiar AG look together with a nicely cut wig. Thanks for the chance to win another cute boy doll.
The Goetz boy is cute, but he has rather a baby face compared to the others. I am enchanted by all the Girl for All Time dolls, including Max, but he might not work as well with my daughter’s AG dolls.
I truly would love to have a boy doll – fun to dress and add to my collection. Thank you.
I have to list Truly Me #77 as my favorite although I love all our AG boy dolls. Wonderful that others are now available. Thank you!
I like American girl doll #75 and My Sibling doll Andy! Thank you all the giveaways Pixie faire team!
It’s wonderful that boy dolls are now circulating. Hallejuha!

I really like the My siblings dolls and I really like Gabe and Franco they are so cute! Thank you for all the giveaways! They are very fun!
Franco us just an adorable boy doll. Love his look.
Logan from American Girl is my favorite boy doll. So glad I got him while he was available
I like Parker best.
I like Andy of My Siblings the best
I like the my sibling and my pal dolls the best. They have unique stories and their faces have a more boyish look.
I like Parker. He reminds me of the Campbell soup kids.
Gotz’s Little Bear from the Starshine line is my favorite . He’s adorable and there simply aren’t enough indigenous dolls of either gender.
Franco is super cute!
I like all the boy dolls. A variety of them is nice; I have 12 Our Generation boys all same hair color and design. I have changed hair on one to orange eyelash yarn for The Mad Hatter.
I like Truly Me #75 best, but I also like the Gotz Dylan doll pictured. I haven’t seen that doll before. He’d be neat to make outfits for.
I think its wonderful that there are so many boy dolls from which to choose, but my heart still belongs to the original AG boy doll, Logan.
I like the Truly Me boy doll best as i feel his hair would last as styled longer.
I like there are boy dolls. I have the American Girl boy dolls and Our Generation boys.
I really like the Life as a Boy doll best. He reminds me of my curly-haired granddaughter.
I love Truly Me #75. He’s so cute. He’s casual and laid back.
I like Andy, because he looks like my youngest son!
Dylan would fit right in with the siblings waiting here for him! Thank you so much for your generosity, you are wonderful!!
I have a great interest in recreating history, and particularly the 1860’s. Therefore, Dylan would be my choice for my endeavor. I LOVE his dark skin, curly hair and strong face. I have lots of plans for him!!
I love the AG and AGFAT boys! I want to add a TM boy to my collection eventually, but for now I have an old JLY/Girl of Today who got a boy wig and is super adorable. The Gotz boys are cute too!
My favorite boy doll would be the Truly me 75, with his brown eyes. He looks just like my boys do.
My favorite boy doll is Truly Me #75. He looks so much like my grandson. One day my granddaughters were playing with my American Girl dolls & my grandson said “Do you have any boy dolls”? I think I need one.
what a great giveaway. A boy doll would be a wonderful companion to my girl doll!
My choices would be either Parker, or the other Gotz doll, Jackson. Parker was my maiden name, and the doll resembles photos I have of my dad when he was a kid. Jackson is my grandson’s name, and he has that same fair complexion.
AG Logan is my favorite because it was fun that AG finally branched out into Boyworld, but in a close 2nd are the OG Dolls Gabe & Tyler while having the same mold they seem imbued with very different personalities.
What a refreshing idea.
My grandson would love this doll!!
I have been fortunate enough to be able to acquire an Our Generation Boy Doll, but I would definitely like to have Gotz boy doll to go with the Gotz Doll I have…They have beautiful faces. I make doll clothes for these dolls and then sell them at craft sales and the money I make goes to buy second hand dolls that I can restore and make a wardrobe of clothes for to give to little girls who would not otherwise be able to have them. Thanks for all you do for us Cinnamon and the Pixie Faire Team.
I raised two boys and two grandsons. I think it’s great to have boy dolls. there are so many outfits available for them. Every girl needs a brother. I have no favorite. I love them all.
I’ve recently been debating on which boy doll to get. This post is perfect timing. :)
I love the boy dolls. And their fashions. I really like the my sibling dolls with autism awareness. They are my favorites. That’ll you for sharing all the wonderful boy dolls and fashions
All of the boy dolls are great but I just love Franco’s soulful gaze.
Love the look of Truly me #75, reminds me of my youngest son. Will love to have it to remember him
Would love to add Dylan to my collection. Not sure that I have a favorite, love that they are all so different!
I like Andy. He looks like a boy full of fun.
I like the Harry Potter doll from Gotz, it ’s 18 inches.
I like the American Girl Doll Boys.
I’m not as familiar with the boys dolls as I could be. I like the American Girl type dolls as I have so many patterns that I could use for them. Thank you for the opportunity and the great patterns and ideas.
All the dolls are great, I’m sure just right for some girl or boy out there. I like Andy the best
Logan is my favorite because he reminds me of one of my grandsons. Max is my next favorite with his stunning eyes.
My favorite boy doll is AGAT Max.
My favorite boy doll is AGAT Max.
Truly Me 75 and Franco are so handsome. Either one of them would make awesome models for boy doll clothes.
Truly Me 75 and Franco are so handsome. Either one of them would make awesome models for boy doll clothes.
Gabe is my favorite.
i love the AG and My Life boy dolls!
I prefer the boy doll Parker He looks very nice. Like the kid next door look. Just all american. with his lovely hair peeking out of his hat
I like Andy the best. He just looks like an all american Midwestern boy.
I have a My Life As Boy doll: he’s a lot slimmer than AG dolls because he doesn’t have a soft body. He doesn’t pose well. :( I would love to adopt a Gotz doll! He looks sweet.
My favorite boy doll is Andy.
Max is my favorite!!
I was pleased when American Girls introduced boys into their line so that boys could be a part of doll play and doll families.
However, my favorite boy dolls are the ones made by Sasha Ltd since 1968. The 16" “Gregor” dolls have brown, blonde, red or sandy hair. There are also baby boys and toddler-sized boys made by Gotz in Germany from 2000 to 2001. These dolls look like real children and encourage their owners to sew great wardrobes for them, as well as to provide them with toys, food, furniture and many accessories in their size.
My favorite boy dolls are probably the American Girl dolls because I like the meet outfit the best. They remind me of Evan from Dear Evan Hanson.

I made a boy doll by re-styling the hair on an 18 inch doll. I love the AGAT boy, Max.
