I sew for my home business at least 20 hours a week and often many more! The best kind of morning is to sew for an hour while it is still dark out. Then I take a breakfast break and get back to my studio until lunch. Most nights are spent getting hand sewing done. I also take it with me when I will be waiting somewhere, like in a doctor’s office or airport. Sewing relaxes me like nothing else and I make the world more beautiful with every stitch.
My sewing gets done in bursts, usually when there is a deadline that cannot be missed! I sew for a fundraiser for a local dance company, and sometimes help with costumes, and sew for my family from time to time. My 22 year old son loves vests and asks me to make his. And now with two granddaughters and a third on the way, I think my daughters and I will be doing more at the sewing machine with them. So I am either nowhere near my sewing machine, or I am at it full-time until I get the project done!
I sew, knit and crochet for personal use. I do many other crafts too so it is hard to find the time to do all the things I love to do. Once I start a project I will spend about 10 hours/week on it but it could be weeks in between projects as I work on other things!
