I love to sew and am always looking for an outlet – a reason to sew.
I sew primarily as relaxation. When working on a project I can easily spend 12 to 18 hours a day for weeks or months. These are usually gifts for my granddaughter. Then I make take months off during the summer for outdoor activities. Rainy, snow, or just cold days are my favorite times since they are the perfect days to stay inside and sit at my machine.
I sew primarily as a hobby after I retired in order to improve my sewing skills and to develop my skills for putting colours together and designs together. I sell the clothes to friends and at one craft sale and donate all the proceeds to the Stephen Lewis Foundation. I sew up to 6 hours a day before a special occasion when people ask for specific designs. I have very few vintage designs but I love them and the detail required.
I sew as a hobby, as well as stamp, scrapbook, paint, cook, collect American girl dolls (especially the historical ones) and love to make things for my granddaughter. I spend about 10 hours a week, sometimes more, sometimes less depending on what life has brought me to deal with that week. I love being in my craft room which my husband calls my “lair.”
