My great niece would LOVE this traditional costume from our family heritage! And I think she got a boy doll for Christmas. What luck it would be to win this pair of beautiful costumes!

A tradition I enjoyed as I grew up was my mom making Kolaches for all holidays and special occasions. Kolaches originated from Bohemia, now known as the Czech Republic. My mother, half Swede, grew up next to a Bohemian family living on the next farm over from my grandparent’s, in Kansas. The Bohemian woman taught my grandmother how to make Kolaches who in turned taught my mother how to make them. Kolaches are made from with a slightly sweet yeast dough, rolled into circles then pressed down in the center to make a well which held a mixture of either stewed prunes or cooked apricots. Americans now make them with all kinds of fillings such as cherry, strawberry, blackberry, pineapple, etc. Oh, so yummy!
