My favorite sewing tool is my clover iron. This little iron with its tiny head fits into the little seams of doll clothes very well. I have a small ironing board that I can just pull out and iron right on the spot without getting out the big iron and board.

“My favorite sewing tool is…”

… my needles and threaders! I do all my sewing by hand as I can’t afford a machine, so having several sets of needles at hand is always a help when one snaps (and they oftne do). With poor eyesight I’m also happy to have a few threaders around to help aid getting that thread into those tiny eyeholes!

My favorite ‘sewing tool’ is actually a kitchen item: Reynolds Kitchens Plastic-Coated Freezer Paper. Cut pieces to 8 1/2″ × 11″ & run through top-loading printer to print out my lovely Pixie Faire patterns. Then iron coated side onto fabric, cut out pattern pieces w/out using pins. Pieces stored in plastic sleeves & re-used over & over many times. Not being poked, not wearing out my pattern/re-printing often = more sewing time! ;’)

My favorite sewing tool ( I don’t have access to one anymore) is a copy machine. I used it to copy my doll patterns so I could keep the original intact, I didn’t have to worry about losing small pattern pieces. I also would change the size of the patterns to make my items smaller or larger.

My favorite sewing tool is my pincushion, given to me by my sister. The base is ceramic shaped like a small pet bowl that is filled with stuffing and topped with fabric that is held in place by string that threads through small holes in the ceramic base. Besides holding my pins it serves as a paperweight at times holding pattern pieces down.

My favorite sewing tool is the magnetic wristband my sister bought me for Christmas. It’s like a needle-keeper ((another item I love)) that secures to my wrist; it can hold needles and pins for me while I’m working, drastically reducing the risk that I’ll wind up stepping/sitting on a stray straight-pin later.

My favorite sewing tool is the blue painter’s tape. I use it on the sewing machine to make a straight 1/4" seam when making doll clothes or quilting so I know my seams are exact. I also use it for other size seams. It does not leave any sticky residue. I also put a small piece of tape on the side of the machine and keep track of needle size I’m using and date it was changed.

My favorite sewing tool is my completely metal seam ripper that I got with my ginger small scissors. It looks like a curved scalpel. It never needs sharpening. I have had it over twenty years. I misplaced it when I last moved and I searched everywhere unsuccessfully for a replacement. I was heartbroken, until I opened a small box that my daughter had packed. Now, I make sure it is in it’s proper place when I am through using it.

My favorite sewing tool, at least at this moment it’s situational, is a metal elastic threader. It is about 6" long with a ball on one end and a slot for the elastic on the other. The two i have seem to have grown legs & gotten themselves lost. My local fabric store no longer has them so thank you Quality Sewing & Pixie Faire for giving me another place to search for replacements.
I made 2 Bitty Baby twins outfits for Christmas out of red velvet for my grand daughters. Elastic in 4 sleeves & 2 waist bands. No safety pin is small enogh to fit through those narrow casing. I miss my elastic threader.
