My favorite sewing tool is the lowly straight pins. They get my project underway, which is so exciting. I can’t imagine trying to cut out pattern pieces without each one being snuggly affixed to the fabric with the straight pins. They hold fabric pieces together while sewing, or attaching a gathered skirt to a bodice. I love to do hand hemming so they’re right with me to the very end holding a hem nice and straight. So never forget this great sewing tool ;)

My favorite sewing tool is my new sewing machine. Up until recently, I was using an old Singer sewing machine that was bought for me as a wedding gift in 1971. It got a lot of use making my children clothing and Halloween costumes, as well as curtains, slipcovers, throw pillows, etc.It finally got tired and I got tired of having it repaired, so I bought myself a new Janome machine this year and I love it!

My favorite sewing tool is a toss up between an elastic puller and sewing clips. I love the elastic puller because it makes getting the elastic in those tiny waistlines so fast and easy! The little round ball on the end is perfect for pushing out the corners on t-shirt necklines after I flip them. I love the sewing clips because I have found that they can make cutting out any pattern with a straight edge as easy as slipping a clip on the pattern and fabric to hold everything in place. I also use them to hold the ends of hook and loop pieces to the collar of garments so that I can easily sew them in place without using pins or tape.
